Shutting Down
Sorry, but I can't keep up with everything!
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm going to have to shut down my journals here in the next few weeks because I just can't keep up with them and reading everyone else's journals (which seems to only be fair). Life has been wonderful but hectic and I need to tame things down considerably. Being a good wife and all that, you know?
I think of all of you often and it pains me to have to say goodbye. Hopefully I can stop by every now and again to say hello. If you're interested in my new email address (I'll be leaving AOL as well), please drop me a line. Once I'm ready to convert, I'll update you with the new addy.
Peace ... and write on!

Coming Soon!
I stumbled onto a site today and ::whoosh:: got a bright idea! Coming soon you can buy t-shirts, mugs and other neat treats from the Karmic Laughter shop! So what do you want? A steel travel mug? A license plate? A hooded sweatshirt? A pair of boxer shorts? I'm off to start creating the designs. Stay tuned! I'll have some of the designs at my "other" journal (
http://kaylaughton.diaryland.com) in the next week or two!

Vertigo & Move
I've been working on the layout for a new journal most of the day while fighting off waves of nausea and dizziness. I'm not sure what's worse, the dizziness or the nausea. The dizziness would be more tolerable if only I had the taste of alcohol in my mouth instead of this pasty film of death coating my tongue. I must look good, though. Wil went to give me a hug and a grope before leaving for work this morning. When he bent down to kiss me, he pulled back and gave me a look. That's when he learned I wasn't feeling well and immediately became concerned.
Do you want me to take the day off? He offered. I shook my head and gave him a smile, telling him no, I'd be fine. I have to give him credit. He didn't call me every hour on the hour and let me sleep, even though I didn't really get much sleep. Every time I went to lay down, my head would spin as if I had downed my first gallon of booze at a New Year's party. Tell me this isn't the flu.
Anyway, if you're interested, the beginnings of my FREE diary that I can do pretty much ANYTHING I want and there are NO restrictions to the number of characters ... follow this trail: http://kaylaughton.diaryland.com (easy, huh?). See you on the flip side!

Are You Ready for Some Christmas?
(You've got to say it like they announce Monday night football!)
I have a very small tree that I hauled out of storage and put up last weekend. In the past, I've decorated it with a "fashionable" theme that was heavy on the feminine side. And why not? I was single and living alone with no one to please but myself. But that was then. This year the tree is decorated with little white lights and a garland of cranberries (I swear I'll never get the stains out!) with a glass angel perched on top. All of the ornaments are crystal or glass, which we bought together deciding that even when we start our family, the small tree could be carefully set out of harm's way to display the more fragile (and dangerous to little fingers) ornaments.
And we've started a family tradition. Each year we plan to buy special ornaments for each other and will be making or buying a special commemorative ornament as a family. This year we were going to buy an ornament that says "Our First Christmas Together" but one we both liked, so we made one instead! Wil gave me a "Partridge in a Pear Tree" crystal ornament while I found a police badge with "2003" engraved on the front of the shield.
Aside from the tree and the installment of our first official tradition, I was the regular Susie Homemaker and made several wreaths and fresh garlands to string and hang about the house. Wil and I spent a day making and baking dough art to decorate the wreaths and garlands, which will be given to visiting friends and family. We cut out little gingerbread boys and girls and decorated them as little newlywed couples. It won't be a project we'll be doing anytime in the near future for two reasons: first, we suck at decorating them and most turned out absolutely hideous and second, because we spent more time doing some pretty nasty things to our mini-me creations that it took much longer than we anticipated. We also made a batch of infused oil and poured them into some decorative jars we found (such a bargain too!) at a garage sale and are pretty much done with our Christmas gifts for friends and family.
How are the holidays in your world? What traditions do you celebrate?
