Christmas Eve

Good morning, from the East Coast!  I hope everyone has a very blessed Christmas season, and remember to say Happy Birthday to Jesus - because He is the reason for the season!

I am up with the chickens again today.  The husband left for work and is taking his crew out for Christmas Breakfast before they dig into their day.  He is very disappointed with his management because they normally offer up a nice bonus for the crew, but this time it was a drop in the bucket.  I don't even know if the husband is using any of it to pay for today, it may come out of our personal income.  But I think its a very nice thing for him to do.  They work hard, and deserve something.  So, since he woke me up ... I decided to start baking.  I decided I would bake the pies (three of them), potatos, green beans, and stuffing today.  Tomorrow, I will do the turkey.  We have a honey baked ham in the fridge that we can eat tonight.

Speaking of turkey, everytime I see one it reminds me of a funny thing that happened to me as a young bride.  Back in the day, when I went shopping - it was once a month.  So the cart was loaded down.  So, barely room on the cart to maneuver it (I really needed two of them) and on the top was our prized 20lb butterball turkey.  So, I'm slowly heading out the door and there is bit of an incline and then it happened....I hit an ever so small bump......and my turkey went flying off my cart onto the ground and skidded on the ice what seemed to be a block, LOL.  Everyone around me had gasped and then started cracking up laughing.  A gentlemen offered "Seems like that turkey is going to have to be caught twice."  One of the workers was nice enough to go retrieve it and fortunately no one ran over it either.  It was frozen so solid that it did not even mark it.

We are watching the weather across the States from here to IL.  I am concerned now with my DH decision to drive this trip with the daughter.  The weather is so unpredictable.  He is watching it too, and may be reconsidering his decision to go home.  So far, it looks like he will be okay to drive it.  Definitely worth keeping a watch on.

<FONTSIZE=4>Even though my youngest daughter is 18, I can still see how Christmas excites her.  She trys to play it cool but I still see it, lol.  She came home from shopping with the husband last evening and casually asked "So did you get everything wrapped now?"  I casually countered back, I think so do you need wrapping paper.  She says, "Oh no, I was just wondering because I could not help but notice that when we left all the packages were wrapped in green and red and now there are two BIG blue ones."  I say, why yes there are two big blue ones now.  Hmmm.  She looks at me and I look at her, and then she says "Well alright, I'm going now."  LOL  She is excited.  I'm glad.  The day it stops holding excitement will be a sad one for me where she is concerned.  I hope the world always offers each of my girls a sense of wonder, like the song goes "I hope you Dance".  They are so precious to me.

The husband wanted to know what I'd like for Christmas.  I know I mentioned the robe and the garment keeper, but there are some gifts that come with intangible price tags.  I mentioned one.  I will see if he does it before I share what it is, but will only say it will show real progress where we are concerned.  At least in my mind and heart.

If I don't get an opportunity to pop on here before tomorrow, I wish each of you a very blessed and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  God bless each of you and yours!

Happy Holidays ... I hope you, too, retain all the wonder of Christmas.  I think we all should, at any age!
