Not Enough Time
While doing home work last night, I caught some of American Idol "Gives Back" episode. If you have not been following AI, then you will not realize this show is dedicated to helping those in need, with special emphasis on our children. It does not matter what country or State they come from - they are ours. It got me to thinking about giving. Most people, when they hear the "G" word automatically either shudder or are generous to a fault. But one member from last night's show also brought up that giving can come by way of service. It was Maria Shriver, I believe and she had over 100 volunteers on stage to prove it can work. I think of people like Cindy ( http://journals.aol.com/emabecmar/CindysLife/ ) and her donation of her personal time to her daughters school. I think its a wonderful thing. Serving others so they benefit needs no thanks, it just something we should do. It can come in smaller doses on our day-to-day (opening a door, letting someone have that last parking place, taking time to explain, even more important to listen, hold a hand, let go, etc.). Larger ones are more obvious - but whether you see yourself doing it or not, you do. And I think its pretty cool.
I am on schedule for what I wanted to get accomplished with home work. Tonight, my focus will be to cover two sections of a chapter. For some reason, we are not going to go through the entire chapter in this class, guess that will come in the next course. I have decided to stick it out. I have one quiz left to do, and about ten questions of online home work for a review exam. I want to devote my entire weekend for study time. Monday night, I have an exam.
I have a doctor's appointment today. Time to give blood work and make sure everything is okay. My daughter has been having headaches the last few days. I told her she needed to get an appointment two days ago. I think its allergies and her zyrtek is not working. Advised her to cut back on the soda (caffeiene) and drink more water, too.
Have meetings the next couple days. Friday, I might as well say I won't be at work because it involves meetings all day, ick. I hate meetings. I'd rather be at my desk working, lol. But you do what you got to do.
Yesterday, I went to a late lunch, and as I was standing in line I saw a gentleman that reminded me of someone I almost met long ago. I'll save that story for another time, it could of been a great story, and one involving a ghost.

Hi Lynne,
I know what you mean about a "day of meetings." Hang in there!
Best,

I've never watched "AI" but hear about it here all the time, people seem to enjoy it. Pleased to see a corporate network giving profits to charity, no matter the tax deduction it's still better than nothing. I think the most meaningful "giving" is that which is hardest for you to do. And the most loving act is that which is done to someone you find it hard to love. xoxo CATHY

Beautiful entry. I totally agree with the whole "giving" even just a little bit of your time to help others. Congratulations on winning Sentence of the Week. Love Pam xx

I so agree with the volunteering idea, Lynne!! I volunteered for about six months a year ago, and boy did it feel GOOD! It is something we all can do if we have a little bit of time, and if we don't, we can all do the "smaller" things, like the smile or opening the door first, or giving a sandwhich to someone who is hungry. Right on!! Hugs, Val xox

I still believe people should have to pass a test to have children or animals. I know it probably sounds cruel. However you take a drivers test with the emphasis on safety and for others protection, yet anyone can have a kid and own an animal...
Simply things like kindness and compassion don't cost a dime. (Hugs) Indigo
