Funny Or Not So Funny
My sister called and we'll be going to the Indiana Jones movie at 10AM this morning. I am with her, get it out of the way so we can have the rest of the day to do our thing. She has plans with her daughters' family, and I am going to paint. Oh yes. You read it right. I know it took us a year to paint a half-bathroom, but this is a necessity, its the kitchen and quite frankly I'm sick of looking at walls that have been ridden of the ugly wallpaper that used to be on them. And no, I will not take pictures afterwards because I'm quite sure no one will want to see my work of art, LOL.
So, the husband had a bright idea (or not). He was golfing yesterday, while I worked and called and asked me to meet him for a dinner date. We met at a mexican resteraunt. It was hard to get waited on, because the staff and it looked like their friends were all settled in watching a soccer game on TV. I had two tacos, that's it. So, then the husband wants to go to Lowes and purchase the paint. Now mind you, neither of us have experience. I managed to pick out my color and hand it to him and we were waiting at the counter for what seemed to be rather long enough to almost get on a first name basis with those standing in line with us, when my stomach started. Oh oh. I turned to the husband with a pained look on my face and said I'm going home now. It took me 40 minutes to get home. Talk about miserable, but I made it. Barely, and I will leave it at that...LOL. So, the husband comes home with the paint. OHMYGOSH, what big paint buckets you have...he bought a five gallon bucket of paint to paint a room that barely exceeds 12 x 12 or something, LOL. I think we'll be able to do other rooms with the leftovers. We're going to be painting hounds this week until the company arrives.
Last night around 1030PM my sister calls. Is she crazy? No, no one was hurt or dieing. She just could not get in touch with her daughter and thought she was supposed to call her when they got back from the movies, but they didn't. I explained to her I talked to them and they were safe and staying at my daughter's father's place instead of coming here. I could tell she was working herself into putting her daughter on restriction, because well that is the way she is..its aggrivating. She got miffed at her daughter because she felt she spoke disrespectfully to her on the phone earlier in the day. My sister can't let go of things easily when she is offended. She festers on it and then talks herself into explosions. I had to live in the same bedroom with her for 18 years, so I should know and she's gotten a bit more mild over the years but she still remembers every sin she perceives against her person. Me, I block it out, forgive and try and forget and move on. Because holding onto past gripes is not going to hurt that other person, it is hurting you.
I barely got back to sleep and then the eldest daughter calls. After my heart slowed down because here I go again thinking something was wrong..."Mom could you go online and check my work schedule for me? Pleaseeeee, and oh I'm sorry I woke you up." UGH
This should make me go into a "Hillbilly Papa Bear" mumble #$# mumble #$# mumble...but I held it in control, lol. THEN, at 12:10, I get a call from a "restricted" number. You got to be kidding me right? And the person had the nerve to hang up, so I could not call them back and blast them out. The nerve.
Anyway, that was last night and is behind me. I found a great website on AOL with a hunky guy that shows you home improvement tips. One of them is painting, so I'm going to go now and watch him, I mean it to pick up some points, LOL.
After the movies and some painting, I am going to go by dad's and take him some chocolate eclairs, his favorite and tell him I appreciate him for his time in service and the things that happened to him. He wears many scars but the biggest are the ones in his heart, the things he saw in war that broke it many times over and has weighed his very existance down since that time. He never got over it, and my guess never will.
To the other Vets, my greatest and most sincere thanks to you for the things that you do and have done in the past in order to protect and serve. God's blessings on you and yours this day, because this troop, well she remembers and is thankful more than words can say.

I never would have made it home!
