GrandGirlies Birthday.

Just to let ya all know yesterday turned out to be a nice day.

My Granddaughter got money and a new bicycle for her birthday and her 7 year old sister made her a really cute key chain.

She was taken out to a Soul Food resteraunt called "Sweety Pies". She had been asking to go there forever. And we had cake and ice cream when she came home. The cake didnt have fondant icing but it had a very cute design with her picture on the cake and pink icing #10's all over it.

Her pool party for all her family and freinds at the local swimming pool was suppose to be this Sunday but because of all the flooding in the area the pool, which is close to the river, is closed because the surrounding picnic area is flooded. We had to reschedule that for the beginning of August.

All in all it was a nice day.

I'm taking her and a few of her friends to the movies on Saturday and then out for ice cream at Stone Cold Creamery.

And i'm back at work today.

I should have took the whole week off.

Ugh.

Till later...Ü

10 Things I Spent My Stimulus Check On

1. Lunch.

2. Bills.

3. Gasoline.

4. Groceries.

5. Bills.

6. Gasoline.

7. Gasoline.

8. Gasoline.

9. Gasoline.

10. Gasoline.

Gasoline is $3.99 here in St. Louis. How much is it where you live?

Check out this entry from an old journal of mine dated August 21st, 2005.

Flatulent

What is up with gas prices these day?

Ya know, I dont claim to be an expert on that whole oil embargo, Department of Energy, Cost per barrel mumbo jumbo. I couldnt talk my way out of a paper bag with it.  I just dont get it.  Whatever happened to the days when you could say "fillerup" and then hand the guy a ten dollar bill?

I remember when gas was  .43 cents a gallon. I also remember back in the '70s when you were limited to 5 bucks worth of gas. Those were the good ol' days.

Now, i'm searching for gas less than  $2.55 a gallon. Dang! Just typing that irritates me!  A year ago i was having a fit having to pay $1.73!  I told myself then, if i had to pay over 2 bucks a gallon i was gonna shoot my car and take public transportation.

 I dont like buses.

My car got a reprieve but my pocketbook didnt. I can not believe i am actually paying over 2 and a half dollars for gas!  That is just ridiculous! I know that my friend in Cali will tell me that he pays over 3 bucks a gallon already. Look..you live in LA!  All the movie stars live there and they can afford to put 60 dollars in the gas tank every other day!  I'm small town America!  Idontwannapaythatmuchforgas!  I need a bicycle. Yeah thats it. No wait. It rains. Then there is snow. Jeez. These oil companies really got us by the~ ahem~ throats.

Hey, at least im not the guy in the Hummer that passes me everday on my way to work. No...i'm just the one that, in the 100 degree heatwave has all her windows down at 7am in the morning on her way to work cuz she doesnt wanna use up all her gas on air conditioning.

Man...that stinks.

Till Later!   Ü

Hearing "You're Still The One" on the radio.

CHEESE ROLL

Sounds yummy!

Cheese Chase.

Cheese Fall.

Cheese Im gonna break some bones Race.

I'm not sure what they call it but today was the day (or was it yesterday) that somewhere in the United Kingdom a bunch of people chased a big ol hunka cheese down the steepest hill in the country. One guy was actually dressed in a mouse costume. He didnt get the cheese though. Some other messed up looking guy did. Did anybody other than me see this on the news? Those people were tumbling head over head, side over side, backwards, forwards all around the town.  An English friend of mine once told me that someone actually died during this event once. Jeez. Whats the attractiveness of this event? What kind of cheese is it? Is it made outta gold? Is there a prize wrapped inside? I just never understood the fun in that event. It looks like it would just hurt!

Where in the UK is that event held?  Does anyone know?

I wonder if the winner actually got to cut the cheese?

Bad joke. I know.

If they ever decide to end that event the English always have Guy Fawkes Day.

Anyway....

Have a gouda week!

Till Later....Ü

A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

I woke up this morning and looked at the clock.

It was 4:22 am.

I thought to myself that it was too early to get up so i layed back down. 15 minutes later my daughter came rushing into my room.

"Mom, do you feel that??" "What is that???"

It was 4:37.

And it was an earthquake.

It was the weirdest thing i had ever experienced. The last time i felt something like that was when i was 6 years old.

This morning i woke to my bed shaking and my house creaking back and forth. Here in the midwest our first instinct would be to run into the basement because in the spring time tornado's are not out of the ordinary. We even had stormy weather predicted. But this time it wasnt the weather. It was a flippin earthquake!  It lasted 90 seconds. When the house stopped shaking we werent really sure if that was what it was. I went outside to see if anyone else was outside and if anyone else had felt that. I wondered if it was just my house. But when the news came on 15 minutes later it was a confirmed 5.2 earthquake. It was centered in Illinois about 120 miles away.

At 10:14 we got an aftershock that measured 4.5.

Every single person today is talking about the earthquake. Everyone felt it. It was a really scary feeling.

It seems as if this world has been having some really weird weather and natural distasters lately.

I think we all need to go to church.

Till Later...Ü
