And the Hits Just Keep on Coming: AOL Radio Module

Hi folks -- there's a lot going on, but oddly enough, I don't have a lot to report to you right now.

The reason why is that the team has got their heads down working on crushing bugs and preparing for a pretty substantial release that's going to happen in a couple of weeks, which we'll be talking more about soon.

In the meantime, this week also saw the launch of the AOL Radio Module, which lets you put an AOL Radio player module in your profile. It's very cool, since you can choose from the full lineup of AOL Radio channels, plus 70 XM stations for AOL members (and 20 XM stations for everyone else).

To add it to your profile, just add it in the usual way:
  1. Find the AOL Radio Module in the Module Gallery and hit the "Add to Page" button:

In the Module Gallery, Click Add to Page
In the Module Gallery listing, click Add to Page.

  2. Your profile will open in Edit Mode. See the big prompt that says "Drag Module to your page."? Do what it says:

Drag the AOL Radio Module Into Your Page
Drag the AOL Radio Module into your page.

  3. Next, you'll need to choose a station. Click the Update button:

Drag the AOL Radio Module Into Your Page
    Click the Update button.

  4. Type a title for your module. Then, select a music category from the pulldown menu, and then choose a station from the next pulldown menu. If you want music to play automatically, check the "Auto Play" box (personally, auto play drives me crazy, but hey, it's your profile).

Click Save when you're done (and don't forget to click the little "x" in the upper right corner to exit the module editing proces):

Drag the AOL Radio Module Into Your Page
Choose your AOL Radio category and station.

  5. Click the Publish button at the top of the Publisher bar to publish your changes and update your profile.
You can see the AOL Radio Module live where I just published it to the AIM Pages Team profile (which, I have to admit, I need to update so I can show of the new modules.)

Currently, the module's listing says that the module has 86 users. Not knowing what I would find, I did a search on AOLRadio, which currently pulls up the profile of SKUIINBONZ. Skullz (his nickname) is apparently a jazz fan. He's got a good profile -- check it out.

(I note that the reason why Skullz's profile came up in the search is that he uses the Module Menu, which lists all the modules you're using on your page. The search picked up on the "AOLRadio" name in the module menu -- there's that dynamic content search I was talking about)

Anyway, enjoy the new module. Please let us know if you have any problems with it.

Thanks -- Joe
