This Is My Subheader Bug. There Are Many Like It, But This One Is Mine

[Apologies in advance for taking the Rifleman's Creed and adapting it for my own silly headline purposes. And there aren't that many AIM Pages bugs, though of course, any is too many.]

So, as I blogged earlier, I found an AIM Pages bug last week.

I was signed in to my ReadyAIMJoe profile, and I went to check out Kevin's profile, which he had recreated using Quick Edit Mode.

I wanted to see all the buddies in his Buddy Gallery, so I clicked where it says My Buddies in the subheader:

Kevin's updated AIM Pages profile.

Because he's such a great guy and excellent go-kart driver, Kevin has over 80 buddies, which means his Buddy Gallery is spread out over 2 pages (right now, there's a max of 48 buddies per page). Here's his first page:

Keep your eye on the subheader...

I then clicked to Page 2 of his Buddy Gallery:

Uh-oh. How'd I get in there?

Here, we see the problem: I'm still in Kevin's profile, but suddenly I'm seeing my info in the subheader.

That subheader should always point you to the profile, pictures and buddies of the viewee (in this case, Kevin). Instead, on page 2 and beyond, it's showing the info of the viewer (me), which isn't at all useful (especially since I can always get to my info in the upper right).

(For visitors who aren't signed in, they won't see a subheader at all.)

Not only is this confusing, but it also kind of strands you. You'll have to use your browser's back button to get back to the person's profile main page.

So, the team is working on it and I'll let you know when this (and any other bugs we've found) get fixed.

The team had already been looking at ways to enhance that subheader to make it more useful (like adding a tally of your current buddies and photos), and less confusing (right now, there are too many "My"s -- we should be showing the person's screen name).

Thanks -- Joe
