Hearing Nothing at the moment
Hi folks -- been meaning to post this for a while: Since we have some folks who are new to AIM Pages,
here's a recap of ways to solve common problems with your AIM Pages
profile -- start at the top and work your way
down:
1. Clear your Web browser caches and cookies. Also, if you use the AOL software, try clearing your TopSpeed cache (called a footprint).
You can find step-by-step instructions to do both of these things here: Clear Your Browser Cache and TopSpeed Cache
2. Try using the Firefox Web browser. The team has really focused on fixing AIM Pages problems in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser (this includes the AOL software), but trying things out in a different browser helps sometimes. You can download it free at http://www.getfirefox.com
3. If you've made any changes to your profile recently, especially adding HTML or Javascript code into a Custom HTML or Code Snippet module, take out the stuff that you added most recently.
4. If your profile is loading funny (or not at all), try going directly into edit mode, where you can delete modules or content that might be giving you problems:
To figure out which modules are giving you trouble, read the error message dialog boxes that pop up -- they'll usually give you a clue (the name of the module) to what's causing the errors.
5a. If you're having trouble with the comments module, please see the tutorial on How to Fix Problems With Your Comments Module
6. If you can't delete the modules and you want to delete your profile and start over, please see my entry on how to do that: How to Delete Your AIM Pages Profile
7. If you need to delete your profile and you can't get into Advanced Edit Mode at all, please let me know and I can have someone delete your profile so you can start over. This is obviously a last resort, so please give the other steps a shot (it will also help keep you running into the same problems later on).
Bonus Tip: Even if you've been careful, your computer may have been infected by spyware or adware, which can cause problems. (If this is the case, it might slow down your computer or otherwise affect anything you do on the Internet.)
To fight this, download, install and run free adware and spyware removal tools, including:They're all free; get them all and use them all regularly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks -- Joe
