Hi folks -- so, two weeks ago, I said I'd be doing an interview for San Francisco State University radio show and podcast No One's Listening. (Don't remember? Here's the blog entry: No One's Listening? I'll Find Out...)
No One's Listening (or N1L for short, as we podcast media insiders like to call it, dontcha know) focuses on media issues; the host is Irene McGee, who's most-well known for her stint on MTV's The Real World: Seattle.
They wanted to talk to someone from AOL about online etiquette for blogs and profiles, so some obviously well-intentioned but gravely misinformed person suggested I might be a good person to do a 10-15 minute phone interview.
Well, I did the interview; it was a pretty wide-ranging conversation; we looked at each other's blogs, talked some basic blog etiquette (be responsive, give credit, don't lie), then discussed some other aspects of putting yourself online using profiles and whatnot.
Oh, and we both like The Pogues's Fairytale of New York. (But then, who doesn't?)
Content-wise, it was okay; I covered most of the points I wanted to hit. There was actually an AOL-AP survey released that day about the differences in the IM and e-mail habits of adults vs. teens. It actually had some interesting and relevant stuff in it, but I wasn't able to work it in.
My delivery, on the other hand, needs some work -- I was simultaneously not loud enough and too close to the phone, and I stepped on Irene's lines a few times.
Anyway, they posted the podcast online last Thursday, so you can judge whether I did a decent job of it or not.
Thanks -- Joe
