Hearing Madder Rose, What Holly Sees
I was recently turned on to the Web comic strip xkcd, which is a good but pretty geeky (okay, incredibly geeky) strip by Randall Munroe.
It includes a lot of computer and math humor. Also, it (and he) is obsessed with velociraptors.
Anyway, looking through the archives, I found this AIM Profile Creation Flowchart:
While it's specifically about AIM Profiles (not AIM Pages profiles -- more on that below), it's a compact snapshot answering the question:
Now, the strip is about the text-only AIM profiles that are in the AIM client (they show up when you "Get Buddy Info..."), not AIM Pages profiles.
It can be a little confusing; here's a screenshot of my AIM Profile:
Anyway, while the AIM Pages profiles aren't quite as easy to use as AIM profiles, I do note that in the old AIM profiles, you could only link to your LiveJournal (or other blog), whereas with AIM Pages, you can include your LiveJournal (or other blog) feed in your profile.
Who are you trying to reach in your profile -- people you know, or people you don't know? Leave a comment below.
Thanks -- Joe

Your own answers will vary, of course. Now, the strip is about the text-only AIM profiles that are in the AIM client (they show up when you "Get Buddy Info..."), not AIM Pages profiles.

hi joe

I'm trying to reach people who think. I'm from WNY, but I'm now living in NAL & I feel kinda isolated. I have no real friends other than family down here. I'd love to talk to someone else.

I don't know very many people so I am trying to get the few people I know, and one I know and he, unfortunately...plays games and sometimes will let me im him and other times won't, and i think he does the same with his email-or he just totally did away with it....when he's nice-we have never met and I have never seen a pic of him-he's really, really nice.....but, for some reason he backed off and, like i said before is ify...I wish i knew someone who knows him-he's a MOD at a page I go to, and the other MODs don't even really know him. To let him know I am okay and to please stop playing around. So, if not for that I would be probably just mainly talking to people I know....
I am and he's been on here since 1999 or so...and won't help.....How do I set my own away/buddy messages instead of the generic ones and I thought I had so it would show on my away/buddy page what music I am listening to...but I guess I can't figure that out either.
Thanks Joe!
If any of you want to be a friend....please ask! Especially if you can answer questions about how to do things here...
