Feeling Chillin'
The World is ending....
Global warming is occuring, all of these hurricanes are occuring, and those are some reasons why people are afraid about the future of the earth. Well, I'm going to give you some reasons that have to do with sports on why the world is ending.
1. The Red Sox won the world series for the first time since 1918 in 2004, this year the Chicago White Sox won the world series for the first time since 1917. If the Cubs curse comes to an end next year, then this earth was officially gone mad.
2.
A team that is lead by Drew Bledsoe is in serious playoff contention. That team is the Dallas Cowboys. As we all know, the Cowboys and Lions always play on Thanksgiving day. For the first time in a long while, the Cowboys game this thanksgiving is going to be interesting to watch. Not only is Dallas leading the NFC East, but they actually have some players that I'm excited to see play.
3.
This is going to be hard for many of us to take. The Los Angeles Clippers are leading the Pacific Division! That's right, there is another team in LA besides the Lakers. The Clippers are lead by Sam Cassell, Cuttino Mobley, Corey Maggette, and of course Elton Brand. If the Clippers do indeed make the playoffs this season, the world is officially going to end.
4.
This is very similar to number 3. The Bengals are also off to a good start. This past Sunday, the Colts played the Bengals, but Cinci only lost 45-37. It proved that the young Carson Palmer can hang with a guy like Peyton Manning. Tied for first in the AFC Central, it looks like playoffs may be on the horizon for Cincinnati.
5.
Bud Selig has officially gotten a much tougher steroid policy. 50 game suspensions for first time offenders will take place. We thought we would never see the day, but it looks like baseball is trying to crack down on steroids. Remember, baseball hasn't had a 50 home run hitter since 2002.
I have proof with those 5 statements that the world is ending. If you can think of any other reasons, post them as a comment and we'll even have further proof the world is ending. By the way, this Thursday which is Thanksgiving, my wrestling podcast is going to have insider Dave Meltzer on as a guest. Meltzer has been a wrestling journalist since 1982, and he's widely respected. If you're a wrestling fan, you might want to listen to that interviewing, it will wrap up your Thanksgiving in a great way!
Don't worry, even if the world ends it won't be until after Thanksgiving....

JJ ... I'm not Mike. My screename is MKE as in Milwaukee's airport designation and Penguin. Enjoyed your response. I think a little banter and good spirited competitive bashing between participants -- not just the author (Alex) make blogs a little more fun and educational. With your sports roots dug so deeply in Iowa and Minnesota -- no wonder you have a disdain for anything Wisconsin. Why don't you move to Illinois and then have me completely surrounded? Actually, I'm a die-hard Southern boy. Born & raised in Nashville. Vanderbilt Ulum, but I've always felt you should endorse the local teams of your present homestead. Actually, my Dad (still in TN) and I have always been Packer fans. But now I have to also be a Titans fan. Alas, I'm a man of two cities and both of their NFL teams suck big time this year!
Blah, blah, blah, next year, blah, blah, blah.
Vikings are on a short roll. But they do know how to party! I think that's important when you live in the snow belt. Happy Thanksgiving to you too...

Hey Mike,
Funny post, thanks gave me a good laugh.... I am very much aware of all the stars that have come out of your sport teams in your state.Still dosen`t change the fact as a Iowa Hawkeye fan and Viking fan that I have really enjoyed watching the Hawkeye`s and Vikings kick your guys butts this fall.
On a side note I doubt Alex, living in the northeast would have any reason to be writing or talking about any team from Wisconsin considering how all of your teams are playing now, in the present, who cares but a fan in your state.
And lighten up and don`t take everything so personal, it`s not your fault your teams are all so bad, Ok the Badgers aren`t too bad( took a former Hawkeye coach to turn them around) I will give you that.. And by the way, you have a awesome Thanksgiving !!!!

Hey JJ...First of all, I wrote my entry before the Packers Monday Night game, and even conceded that the Pack is down and out for the season. As for our other teams -- I guess you are one of those egotistical jerks that think sports is only for certain regions of the country. Give us a break! Except for our beautiful, culturally diverse, trend-setting, "City of Festivals" Milwaukee, we don't have a lot going on between snow shoveling and deer hunting. I'm sorry, I guess this is confusing to you, so I'll switch to your native language.
Sense yew downt thank spealing and righting wright would importent, I gess uall canknot theenk playurs lyke Hank Aaron, Don Sutton, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sidney Moncrief, Bart Starr oar evin Vince Lombardi hav maid anee contrebuttshuns two spoarts.
