Vacation 2008
Cheerful

What a wonderful vacation this year! We had so much fun cramming everything that we've wanted to do all year into two weeks. hehe. We spent about a week at NaNa and PapPap's beach house. You LOVED playing in the sand, but wanted nothing to do with the water. You also had a great time at the boardwalk...munching on Boog's BBQ beef sandwiches, chowing down on Thrasher's French Fries, and slurping down Dumpser's chocolate banana milkshakes. You also went on your first amusement ride--the Tea Cup ride. You really had no reaction--just sat there with your little thumb in your mouth and looked around haha. The swimming pool was not a hit with you. You didn't want to play at all--you slept the entire time on a pool lounge chair. The fun didn't stop after we got home. We visited Hands On House, a kid's museum in Lancaster. You absolutely loved running around and playing with all the exhibits. Since you and Hailey loved the beach so much, we made another beach trip--this time to Sandy Point State Park, which is right near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Daddy and I loved every minute we spent with you and Hailey during vacation. You girls sure were a handful at times, but we had so much fun! We hope you did too!

Happy First Birthday Alexis
Ecstatic
Happy 1st Birthday, Alexis! Your first birthday party was on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday May 25). We had about 35 friends/family over for a cookout at our house. You got soooo many new toys and tons of clothes. You really had a blast. We didn't even start singing "Happy Birthday" before you started gobbling down cake! It was priceless. We love you so much sweetie! You have grown so much over the last year. It is amazing to see how much you learn every day. You have really blossomed into such a bright, happy little girl. You are truly a blessing from God.

First Steps!
Happy

Our "baby" girl took her first steps yesterday at Mah Mah and Yeh Yeh's house! She was so excited that she could do something new that she would take a few wobbly steps and then take a flying leap into our arms haha. Each milestone is so amazing...watching Alexis grow and thrive brings so much joy to Vince and I. Her smile melts our hearts, and her endless curiosity really inspires us to slow down and smell the roses...what better way is there to spend a spring day than sitting on the sidewalk and watching bugs crawl along the cracks?? hehe. Priceless.

Happy Easter
Happy
Happy Easter! Lexi seemed to really enjoy Easter. She loved playing with the plastic eggs. She also enjoyed playing with the new toys that NaNa and PapPap got her for Easter. The Easter Bunny also brought her a big basket full of goodies, so she was spoiled as usual...and full of sugar too.

So Big!
Happy
I cannot believe that we are already in March. Time just slips away so fast. I just realized that I hadn't written a journal entry since December. So much has happened in 3 months. Lexi is becoming quite a little ham. She started "crawling" in January, but it wasn't until February that she figured out how to crawl forward. Up until that time, she did a combination of crawling backward and rolling until she got to her intended target hehe. She also started pulling herself to a stand in February. She is now fully mobile and enjoys finding lots of trouble to get into. She has not started walking yet, but she has attempted to take steps, and loves to cruise along the furniture. She also is a good eater. She especially loves Mah Mah's "juk" (mushy rice) and any kind of pasta. As far as nighttime goes, we're still struggling a bit with her waking up through the night. Last week she began waking up 5-6 times per night and we'd walk in her room to find her standing at the corner of her crib and screaming. When we would lay her back down, she would let out a scream, then stick her thumb in her mouth and eventually fall back asleep as we'd sneak quietly out of her room while trying to avoid any squeaky spots in the floor). This would go on numerous times every night, so we'd wake up exhausted. This week has gone better. We decided not to play music durning the night (Hailey loved it and we throught Lexi might too---wrong!) and we switched her position in the bed so she was facing the opposite way. So things have been going better. I don't think we'll get a decent nights sleep until the girls are 18...hehe.

Chompers
Happy

Christmas is only a few days away! This year will definitely be a hoot. Lexi loves playing with the wrapping paper...more so than the toy that comes inside it. Once again, we went a little crazy with all the toys, but hey, the girls are sooo worth it! We love to spoil them hehe. Lexi had her 6 month check-up a few weeks ago...more immunizations. Not fun. She now weighs around 16 lb. She has been eating so well, although she definitely has a preference for fruits over veggies. She makes the cutest little grimace whenever we feed her a plain veggie that hasn't been mixed with a fruit. Her first teeth came in about a week ago too! She will be eating her "gai bei" any day now! Hehe. She still isn't crawling, but it definitely is right around the corner. She is getting more and more agitated with being in one spot, and will often lunge forward onto her belly, do a little push-up, then roll over onto her back! She also is a real motormouth, always babbling....sometimes I think I can make out a "dada" here and there, but it could be just a coincidence. I was hoping she'd say "mommy" first anyay!!

First Solids
Happy
Lexi just had her 4 month checkup with Dr. Eppley on Monday (October 1). She got 4 more immunizations..ouch. She weighed in at a hefty 15 lb. which put her in the 75th percentile. Dr. Eppley said that it was okay to start feeding her some solid food and juice now. She absolutely LOVES it! So far she has loved everything we have given her...Mah Mah's famous "juk" (soupy rice), sweet potatoes, and applesauce. She can't seem to get enough. She screams for more in between bites...it's so cute. She is getting so chubby...very adorable!

Rolling Over
Happy
Alexis hit another big milestone last week (4 months old). She rolled over from her belly onto her back! She is a little wiggleworm, so we weren't surprised at all. I predict she will also crawl/walk early too because those pudgy little legs never stop moving;o) She is still doing well at night, usually sleeping from 8:30 P.M. until 11 P.M. (we wake her up and Vince feeds her a 5 oz bottle). Then she sleeps until at least 7 A.M. She has such a pleasant personality and is soooo laid-back. I never expected it to be this easy with two little ones (although Hailey has a bad case of the "terrible twos" right now and she has lots of meltdowns). We really are blessed.

Finally in her Crib
Happy
Alexis slept in her real crib for the first time last night---through the night too! She had been sleeping in a Pack-n-play in our bedroom since we brought her home from the hospital, so it was kind of bittersweet to see her "graduate" to her own bedroom. She did fantastic though...slept from 8 PM until 7 AM! I am also preparing to ween her soon, so she will be completely bottlefed, but that's not going very smoothly. She usually fights the bottle, especially if Vince or I aren't the ones feeding her. So...we'll be working on that. Otherwise, she is a perfect little angel. I took her to the doctor's office last week for her 3 month checkup and she now weighs a whopping 13 lb. which puts her near the 90th percentile. She definitely is a "Mak"...loves to eat. She is fascinated by watching us eat. We put her in her high chair at dinnertime and she watches every move. I bet she can't wait till she can eat Mah-Mah's famous "juk". hehe.

Sleeping Through the Night!
Alexis has now started consistently sleeping through the night! We usually give her a bath around 8 PM, then she naps till about 10:30ish. She wakes up and Vince gives her a bottle (we mix formula and breastmilk for nighttime). Then she goes back to sleep till around 5:30-6:30 AM. She is a very easy-going baby so far. She really likes to babble and coo as well as flash us that beautiful, gummy smile! I've started to work a little more now, but I am still breastfeeding her during the day because she's right next door. We really have the ideal set-up because I can have the best of both worlds...I can work, but I can also see my babies whenever I want to! hehe.
