For Your Two-Minute Consideration
According to Malcolm Gladwell's book, 'Blink', snap judgments are often more reliable than well-considered insights. So, with the Emmys just a couple of days away, you don't have time to watch several episodes of all of the nominated shows for Best Comedy Series. So, AOL has decided to offer up a handful of clips that should be good enough for you to B.S. your way through the night. Here are the nominees.
Many
fans of the BBC
version of the 'The Office' gave it little hope for an American
translation.
What do those limey lovers know? America
makes every British sitcom better, such as 'Sanford
and Son', 'Three's Company' and 'Coupling'. Okay, one out of three
ain't bad.
Now take a look at Dwight's speech,
bringing Mussolini style to a sales meeting.
With
Zach Braff leaving 'Scrubs' after this season, it may be the
shows last chance to polish off an Emmy. Although plenty of brilliant
shows
have gone on without their leading man such as 'That '70s Show' and
'After-M.A.S.H.' Here's a 'Scrubs'outtake.
Here's everyone's favorite show that no one
watched:'Arrested
Development.' Wasn't some channel supposed to pick this up?
Anyone?
Anyone?
While
we'd love to point you to an illegally posted clip of 'Curb
Your Enthusiasm,' it turns out that AOL
and HBO are owned by the same company. Who knew? Yet they don't share
the same lawyers.
Go figure. So enjoy a few episodes recaps, and buy the freakin' DVD,
you little bootlegger.
Finally,'Two
and a Half Men.'If you can't decide between the sitcoms you
really
think should win when everyone is asking for your prediction, just
cynically
mutter: Ah, they'll probably pick 'Two and a Half Men.' Works every
time.
Start picking.
