Permalinks.... ????
Perma what???
We pushed some new features to AOL Pictures yesterday (and we will cover all of them soon). One update is Permalinks - something I know our users asked for in February.
Essentially the Permalink feature gives you a direct URL to an individual picture. You can then embed this picture anywhere you want to -- on your blog, in an ebay auction page, on a web page (like hometown, myspace), in an email.
To get to the feature, click on "Permalink" above the picture, which will give you the URL to the photo. You need to do this on the single image view. Here's an example:
Perma Link URL
The Perma Link URL will look something like this:
http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=ac00c1d-bOizuW25e9z9VqtfFThyg*Ho8s21v4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=t
When you request a photo using the URL, you can specify which resolution of the photo you want, in the URL. The different resolutions supported are:
96x64 (s) , 160x106 (t), 384x256 (m), 768x512 (l)
Example:
-- Small Thumbnail (s)
- larger thumnnail (t)
- medium (m)
When you grab the URL from AOL Pictures, simply change the &size= parameter to either "s", "t", "m", "l". Example below will grab the "medium" resolution.
links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=xxxx=&size=t
Give it a try. Hopefully I've explained it clear enough.

Unfortunately, I am totally helpless when it comes to getting a picture from point A to point B. I see other journals beautifully adorned with images, both personal and images from other websites. Somebody told me to go to "Photobucket", but that's the worst bunch of idiots I've ever seen. Plus they lie. They have nice pictures, but a million steps on supposedly transferring them to your site. Really, one procedure had seventeen steps! They never spell out exactly what to do. I am totally frustrated and angry. Yours is the first area I've seen even talking about how to put pictures on journals, etc. . . Keep talking and remember, not all of us pc lingo.

Problem 2: (also emailed) On the image size, in the URL use lowercase characters.
I just tried your request and it worked for me (example : http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=b140i5xXZH0s28nncHpzKX KMkXdCUQK6NFcLv4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=s)
If you use upper case, it will fail with "Bad Request".
Problem 1: I have no idea why dial up would be bad for you here... When you do an upload, can you select "Fast Upload".. that should work very fast and allow more than one picture per album. -
THIS WORKS GREAT-EXCEPT FOR 2 THINGS I CAN CREATE A NEW ALBUM AND HAVE 1 PICTURE IN IT IN 22 SECONDS(DIAL-UP) WHICH IS AMAZING, BUT IF I WANT TO ADD TWO PICTURES TO IT- IT SAYS 5 ALMOST 6 MINUTES. SO I JUST KEEP CREATING NEW ALBUMS FOR EACH PIX!!
SECOND -THE SIZE -IT WILL ONLY ALLOW ME TO USE THE' l' WHICH IS WAY TOO BIG FOR THE PAGE.HELP!!BUT I STILL LOVE IT OVER THE HOMETOWN WHICH NEVER SHOWS ME ALL THE PHOTOS I HAVE ON THERE JUST ABOUT 6 OF THEM UNLESS I BROWSE AND LOAD THE PIX TO VIEW AND THEN COPY THE URL, THAT SURE GETS TIME CONSUMING....SO THANKS FOR ANOTHER WAY TO GET MY PICTURES ON MY JOURNALS

The product has been upgraded with a new uploader, which is why I think you are being prompted. We have sent you an e-mail to ask for some more details, so we can help on this.
