Mini Cows

Picture from Hometown

Tiny cows called 'miniature Herefords' are catching on everywhere from farms to fairs. We want one.

I agree with the other person, "bigger is better" has been the mantra for the last what, 60 years in this country. Cars, Houses, People, Kids and Cows. Hormones and all the other extra junk have made Americans some of the biggest(fattest) people on the planet. Unfortunately, most of us don't realize that most farm animals abroad are not as big as the ones we have. Whether it be from selective breeding, hormones, genetic modefication or whatever. If these cows started out smaller naturally it's fine, I'm all for it, as much as a Vegan can be, but remember with many things it is not healthy to take animals that are larger and breed miniature versions of them, like the people who are creating the so-called "teacup"chihuahuas. They are already small and come small, but to take an already small thing and make it tiny is not healthy for the animal.
P.S. Min Pins are not miniature versions of Doberman Pinschers. They're a totally different breed. *One Love*

Aye these bovines are very cute.  I am from South Dakota originally and miss tossing cow chips across the fields.  Maybe I could set up a miniature dairy farm on my 2 acres of California.  I'm a big believer in raw, unpasturized, unhomogenized milk. I could have a small herd here!  OK fantasy over, these animals are a lot of work and care.  There are a lot of diseases and stench that come with cattle, so unless you have a lot of time and a couple acres at least don't even think about it.  Too often i see people get pets only to neglect them when it becomes a chore.  My neighborhood is slighly out of town and is the dumping ground for unwanted cats, dogs and rabbits.

On the other hand, my neighbor has a couple horses and a steer he uses for roping, guess he's tryin' to be a rodeo star.  One day i was pulling some grass and gave some to the steer.  Every time i walked away he started mooing, and of course I pulled more grass and gave it to him.  I created a monster: Now every time I so much as set foot in my back yard, he spys me and starts lowing for grass.  Very cute for now.
