When Barbara Walters said a few weeks ago that her dog could say "I love you," a lot of people thought she had gone off the deep end (us included).

CBS' Harry Smith speaks with Erica Volkman and her talking dog, Odie -- who you may have seen before on Letterman or on his own personal Web site. We're pretty jealous of Erica; the only thing dogs have ever said to us was "Hey, how about feeding me, you lazy jerk?"

  Most of the animals I have heard speak human language, speak quite unclearly - whines, growls, etc. There ARE animals out there, however,  that CAN speak clearly. I know. I used to own one with a 17 plus word vocabularly. And have heard others. My current dogs have been trying to train. And have had others over the years - but it seems the MOST intelligent, while they have the capacity to make the effort to enunciate, do not often wish to cooperate. They are smart enough to know they do not have to!
