Dramatic Rescue Caught on Tape

Picture from Hometown

An elderly couple and their pets were lifted to safety Monday in Washington state, after the Bogachiel River quickly flooded their home. Looks like everyone's going to be just fine, including the pups.

I can only add what I know....watching these guys/girls operate a helicopter and basket during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was absolutely indescribable (over our boats).....I had a whole new respect and cannot tell you how this coast gaurd gang can thread a needle with a cable and stokes basket...Those roange birds awesome....keep up the incredible work!  DO NOT let me desensiyize all the forces at Katrina at all...but passing one ataboy onto the CG!

I flew for the coast guard while serving in the air force. I will tell you that the coast guard does great deeds at great risks on a weekly basis and they do not get near enough credit or recognition. If I had completed like missions while flying a air force helo there would have been medal after medal but to the coast guard it is just a days work. The coast guard maintenance systems has to be the best of the services. Lets not forget the men and women rescue swimmers, flight mechs as well they are all superb americans putting it out there day after day.

That is such a wonderful situation. It is great to hear a happy ending to a bad situation. The UNfortunate side of this is that I can bet the "hero" of the day is getting paid less then a McDonalds worker to risk his life for someone else. We really need to start letting people know how it really is for these hometown heroes.
