Feeling Hopeful
Hearing Ed Sullivan singing Opera, or is that the cat screaming?
Richy's Bar-B-Que, no bears showed up (yet)
Bit after midnite now. Too the new old Jaguar for my first ride over the mountains and thru the woods to Richys new house. Had to go over SKY Line Drive....a terribly steep and winding road that transverse the Ramapo Mountain from Oakland to RIngwood. A very dangerous road, often closed in winter.
Now RIchy lives in the Mountains, where the deer and the antelope play. Let me rephrase that. Where the deer, Bears, woodchucks, p;ossums, racoons, skunks, coyotes plate. The antelopes, went to Florida for the winter and never came back,
Richy has been working on his house for months. He was so proud and nervous to buy his own home. I am very porud of him. He landscaped the property, built huge stone retaining walls, trimmed some of the beautiful exisiting trees, inlcuding Blue spruce, red maple and a wall of Rose of Sharon.
He saw a bear in his yard a few weeks ago, His two dogs, Shadow and Poncho(a Chiahuaua) no joke, chased the bear up a tree...A sissy bear. To night there were bear siting...He and HIs girl freind Valerie, put out an awesome spread of food and drink....and had a fire in a huge copper fire pot, that we all sat around, ate, drank, toasted marshmallows, talked and joked. Id was very cozy and fun.
Business was extrememly good today, and we didnt buy anything. John went on a housecall in Fairfield and the putz had another dealer there and wouldnt let JOhn in, and expected him to wait outside in 96 degree weather...and by the way The Immoium isnt working... Wish they had Immodium fuge icecream, or PeptoBismal Cherry Swirl Vanilla. Next step is cement or the DR........
Well Saturday night now, all the customers went home, the help left and I am sitting here deciding whether or not to let Buddy Ride in the New Jaguar...(well it was new in 1988, but was kept pristine) I guess I will, but I cannot have him drive...He only has his dog liscense, not his drivers liscense. But I am sure I wil let him sit behind the wheel and pose......Well, had a great day of sales, but now, unfortunately I have a fever.....and what ever this bug is just isnt going away. Lets see if the Levaquin works. Sorry, todays blog is very blah...when you do not feel right, its hard to be very funny or creative. But tomorrow is another day..and actually, tonight is another night. but before I leave I will give you one fabulous simple, cheap and delicious Hungarian recipe. It is peasant food...so at heart I am a peasant. If you call me that I will not be insulted. I wqould be more insulted if you think I shoudl eb in high society at Kinnebunk Port....with the Bushes and the Tushes and other high class white trash.
OK>>KARPASTA GULUSHKA.....or cabbage and noodles.
Take a whole head of cabbage and trim off the hard leaves and core. Cut of two onions and chop into small pieces. Melt butter or corn oil...and fry the cabbage and onions untill both soft. Continue frying untill the onions start brownings. Add three cups of cooked flat noodles to the cabbage and onions and cook till all are brown and onions become a bit crispy and black. Ad salt and pepper and enjoy.
Variations. You can ad poopy seeds, choped bacon, sour cream...or you can experiment adding what ever you choose. Add a dolop of sour cream on top when serving.
