Compulsive Buyer at work
This morning the store was jammed with people. I do not know why. All kinds of people....Peasants to Zillionaires. I didnt advertise a sale. There was one wild one, an interior decorator who drove up in a ROlls Royce Classic. He wore a pin stripped searsucker suit, a yellow tie, and shoes that looked like he stuck his feet up a penguins ass. Black and white loafers, with white fronts..and a little white in the back. I didnt think people dressed like that anymore. HE was very freindly, likeable, and might have been TRuman Capotes twin. WHen people like that come in, I try to ruffle their feathers....his didnt ruffle and we joked and laughed. We found out we had similar likes and dislikes, the same problems with customers and had a common dislikke for Queen Elizabeth.
NEW PURCHAES ..Glen and I went shopping!! We bought a huge carved Rosewood and inlaid carved bar and backbar....maybe 9 feet wide and 8 feet tall.OUTRAGEOUS. Not for the faint of hearth or teetotalers. ALso on the list is a fabulous life size bronze fountain of a boy fishing on a log, with a frog looking on...and a small foundtain half life size of a child pixie looking into the eater...A pair of nice bleach wood French arm chairs in a light green silk, an OVER THE TOP Lecturn in gold, with bisque looking Putti and carvings...good for a fancy restaurant....sevel dressing screens with hand painted flowers, an oak shaving stand with swivel mirror, several vanities for bathrooms with porcelain or brass sinks, all kinds of benches, corner cabinet with leaded glass, an OUTRAGEOUS French Rosewood and leather desk, with cubby holes with drawer that almost have a Pogoda look(but French)a small truck load of shabby chic painted furn,a fabulours selelction fo bronze and porcelain centerpieces, urns, vases, mirrors, Venitian Glass Mirrors, and a 24foot truck load of great things.
Recipe of the day. Pina Colada Turosh Palacinta (Pineapple Coconut Farmer Cheese Blintz) Palasinta...the Hungarian Blintz, or crepe. Make a pile of thin crepes from any recipe...its the filling and topping that is the thing here! Take a pound of farmer cheese, get it at room tempature mash it up with two tabple spoons fo sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla or coconut extract, a 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon. A pinch of salt. Cream all together. Drain a can of pineapple and squeeze out as much juice as possible and reserve. Chop half the can and put pieces into the cheese mixture.Take the other half of pineapple, chop fine, ad to juice, then ad two tablespoons cream of coconut, two tabplespoons of sugar, juice of half lemon and stir over meadium heat in a double boiler(or very carefully in a regular pan) Thicken with half a teaspoon of cornstarch diluted with a little water. Put a few tablespoons of the cheese mixture on one silde of a blintz and roll up. COver with sauce and eat and faint. The recipe for a traditional Hungarian Palasinta (pronoucnced Palachinta) is as followed. Take the farmer cheese, add a table spoon of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, a teaspoon of vanilla flavoring (some omit this too) and roll in a blintz... But I like to add a bunch of raisins that were soaked in real rum, or a bit of water with rum flavor till soft). These are topped with either sourcream or Apricot or Strawberry preserves.
