Feeling Worried
Hearing The Priests Choir singing "zippity zoo dah" The Song of the South.

I cried today, Katrina, Bush, Recipes and Kvetching Customers

Yes boys and girls, this guy with a beard, cried today.  I was watching the horrific toll that Katrina wrought, but not until I saw videos of peoples animals that they had to leave, the animals struggling to swim or stay aflot, some on roof tops, including dogs, cats, pigs, and one little FOx, who was lucky enough to find an empty rowboat.   It saddened me....I tried to imagine me having to leave BUDDY to the flood waters. I got choked up. ..choked up for helpless creatures, because their owners were too stupid to get the hell out  of there days ago.  Now, with due respect to some, people in Mississipi and ALabam didnt expect to get walloped as they did...and I guess if yoru are  a pig farmer, you cannot put your pigs in a car and get way....maybe if you have a truck, you might be able to get to high ground with some of them. People with horses might have had horse trailers..and GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE> But to see the animals struggle ate away at me.  Like I dont have enough to worry about, I have to get obsessed with all the animals in GODS creation...Cant help it...that is the way I am wound up ...and that is how I tick.  As for the assholes who wanted to ride out the storm, for adventure.....I do not feel as bad, becuase it is their stupid choice. ANd the worse is yet to come!!!

I sold some things Sunday to people in Brooklyn. Very nice people. We schmoozed. We laughed. Philosophized,....but today I get a call that they claim they sw the exact thing in Brooklyn much cheaper....I said, its possible...everyone has the right to buy and sell as they choose, that is if it was true, and if it was really the same thing?  He kvetched some more. I also said, when I have a sale, I sometimes sell things below cost. That is my right you know. Maybe he was having a closeout sale, maybe he was broke and needed money, and maybe he bougth the stuff much cheaper than me...who knows. He continued to complain, that was right and used all kind of sick logic and rationalization.  I said, so look, if you are that unhappy, I will take them back, and give you a credit and you can get something else. He still complained. I really like the people,  I kept my cool, didnt raise my voice, said nothing hostile, and let him kvetch....I said finally, look, you'll get a credit, and therefore you will be fine....(maybe his wife didnt like them, who knows) Maybe the flowers didnt match her underwear?  I let him win...so I can keep a customer.!!!

Bush was on TV today, talking about the hurricane. Even with al the seriousness of the day, I had a laugh...The Commander in THief said, I have advice. Stay where you are and dont go outside and dont go home"   No kidding, like with cars and trees blowing around, brick buildings being blown down, 5 feet of water and rising....you think the people needed Bush to tell them to stay put...GIVE ME A BREAK.  If they even walked out side, the wind would blow them to KANSAS, right into AUntie EMS ..and they would meet TOTO, and try on Miss THings REd Shoes.  He kept talking....he sounded as sincere as Hitler at a  Hadassah meeting.

Recipe of the day. Flavored Corn on the cob.  Get fresh corn on the cob  Microwave it for three minutes with the husk on it.  Then open it up when a bit cool, and put lots of butter on it. Salt, Pepper and then some of your favorite spice or flavoring...Oregano, powered garlic, curry.....experiment... The replace the husks and tie with thin white string or thread,...and micro wave for another 4 to 5 min. Its fabulous...and different. HERES another one" Latino Beef Stew:  Take two pounds of cut up chuck, sirloin, top or bottom round.  Put olive oil in a frying pan. Brown meat on all sides and remove.   Cut up one large onion chop and cook in fry pan until translucent. Put beef and onion into a dutch oven or heavy pot..Ad water to go half way up the contents, and tomatoe puree the other half.  Add half cup of chopped cilantro.(washed really well) AD three cloves of garlic.  Simmer  very slowly about hour and half till meat is very tender. Add half a cup of sliced olives with pimentos. Let cook another ten minutes...Taste..and adjust spices... It is filled with increible flavor...  Ser on a bed of   rice,.  Yellow rice is great...fry an onion till burnt!!!then ad some more olive oil, saute one chopped clove of garlic, and 1/4 teaspoon tumeric or achiote (spanish flavoring and coloring agent) Fry rice for a few minutes...then ad the correct amount of water...(following directions on box)  Serve an avocado and pimento salad with your favorite dressing...Lime juice, olive oil, garlic, tobasco salt and pepper....HMMMMMM
