COnfessions of a MAD Antique Dealer

The day started with many customers coming in on a MONDAY....early...I had many thing sto do before I left to pick up my freind BArbara, the lawyer from Ridgewood, who is on the BOARD of Trustees of the ROY  WHITE Foundation.. ROY WHITE, is the former Yankee, who started a foundation to raise money for Scholarships for Inner City KIDS" who otherwise would never have a chance to go to college.. Barbara and her freinds...are all associated with ROys organization......and what a wonderful cast of Characters they are. Murray and his family were there..Murray, who reminds me of Jackie Gleason with a mustache is one of the msot famous  PRivate eyes in the industry...and one of Roys best freinds. He was the Master of Ceremonies...and I was intoduced to many very famous sports figures of the past... Dozens of them. (and many of them didnt age gracefully..) One that I recognized was BOBBY CHEZ, who was a boxer from NOrthern Jersey, not far from where I lived...Many were former Yankees...so I wore a color coordinated outfit,,, grey pants, a lighter grey shirt, and a greyish sport jacket and a two tone grey YANKEES CAP. Barbara wore another one of her very sexy black dresses, with a very open front, and if she had bent over to much, she woul d have started a titty avalance. She looked stunning.... liek a movie star..BOTH OF US WERE VERY OVER DRESSED. iT WAS AT A COUNTRY CLUB, BUT IT WAS A GOLF OUTTING DURING THE DAY, A  cocktail hour with a mountain of shrimp and oysters, a sushi table, a fruit table, and waiters and waitresses serving non stop hot appetizers.... I jokeed and said, I am waiting for the lobster, and the blond beauty with a RUSSIAN ACCENT, named MAsha said, "Sir, you will hav eto wait for dinner"  She aseemed almsot serious....I already packed away more appetizers than DR Atkins would allwoed me to have in a month....and I was blaoted... "DINNER" I said with a question mark....aimed at BArbara"  OH, I forgot to tell you.....there is a big dinner later...."WHAT????? YOU didnt tell me we were goingto a BAR MITZVAH.." A buffet and then dinner....and I didnt even bring a gift," 

After a small plate of oysters and cold shrimp, Barbara started intoducing me to all the name brand people....and brought up my store, the auction and my own Non Profit, the INER CITY ART PROJECT.   She introduced me to ROY WHITES son Reid, who was an incredible warm and charming young man....When he heard about my project, he volunteered to be on My BOard of Trustees, and then LAter on Barbara told ROY about it and he also will be on our Board of TRUSTEES....and it is growing...Hopefully My Innercity Art PRoject will have lots of great people on it....and we will be discovering hidden tallent that I KNOW exists, in the children, regardless of their racial and socio-economic status.

The people were very freindly.....there was a greater proportion of men to women....becuase it was a golfing event, at a fancy schmany Muttonstown Country Club in Long ISLAND, not far from the estate of JAY LO and other in that Star rated group. A famous Sports WRITE...Ian (I for got his name and will print it in tomorrows blog) who writes for all the big sports magazines...and has been nominated for a PULITZER PRIZe, introduce many of the retired sports figurees, but not on ly in baseball....there were representatives of many sports...there...and many teams....those who might have been opponents in years go by,now share the common interest of ROY WHITE...make things better for the children in the INNER CITY>
