Charlie

So what's with the title of the blog you may ask? - "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations". Trekkers/Trekkies are intimately familiar with this phrase being a cornerstone of the Vulcan philosophy. The IDIC symbol is a 'combination' of a triangle with a circle representing concord and discord. Anyways, I just like the way it sounds - something deep and realllly philosophical.

But the IDIC title also hints at the endless possibilities that an Open Services based technology platform can unleash. The Open Client Platform (OCP) and our host services are all driving towards this goal of creating a "Platform" that would enable rapid development of products and solutions. Several companies out there already expose some of their services to the world - notable examples being Amazon Web Services and eBay Developer Program. Incidentally, triangles feature in software and project management quite a bit -- web services follow a "Publish-Find-Bind" triangular paradigm (I'll post more on Web Services and Service-Oriented Architecture later)and most project managers are familiar with the Project Triple Constraint triangle -- the competing parameters that affect a project: Cost, Scope and Time.
