5 Quick Hits

1. Eric Milton has yielded 56 HRs in 240 IP since he switched to the National League. While he has played his home games in HR parks (Citizen’s Bank and Great American Ballpark), Milton has been even more charitable on the road. He’s given up 30 HRs in 106 IP on the road compared to 24 HRs at home in 134 IP at home.

2. The AL is averaging 4.63 runs per game this season while the NL is averaging 4.60. Any advantage from the DH is wiped out in a league in which the 3B and CF hit like middle infielders

          OPS
1B .752
RF .748
DH* .740
LF .718
C .656
2B .695
SS .694
3B .694
CF .691

* DH only (non PH)

3. Aaron Boone has made 90 outs in 105 plate appearances. He is going to have to pick up the pace if he wants to break 500 outs. Perhaps when he manages to get on base, he should get picked off.

4. Dusty Bakes allowed 23 year old Carlos Zambrano to throw a 136 pitch CG yesterday. I guess he feels he doesn’t have enough young pitchers with arm problems.

5. One of the reasons for the Orioles fast start is their .892 OPS with runners on base. The AL average is ,745.
