Some pussy motorist turned in an Idaho high school team bus for an "inappropriate sign", so the team was suspended for a District Championship game. What type of jackass takes the time to file a complaint about an "inappropriate sign" from a school bus?
School suspends BK baseball team
The entire Bishop Kelly High baseball team was suspended Thursday and will not play in tonight's 4A District Three championship game.
Coach Bobby Sutcliffe said players flashed an "inappropriate'' sign to passing motorists while on a bus ride from Mountain Home to Boise. The incident happened Tuesday night following the Knights' semifinal victory over Vallivue.
School officials learned of the incident Wednesday.
Bishop Kelly, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, officially forfeits the game to Caldwell. The suspension lasts one game, and both teams are expected to play in next week's state tournament in Boise.
This is the second time disciplinary action has been taken against the team, athletic director Dean Satterfield said.
"We had a problem early in the year ... with three seniors on the baseball team and we suspended them their next game,'' he said. "And now we have a problem with the whole team ... so we are suspending the whole team for one game.''
Three coaches were on the bus Tuesday, but unaware of the problem, Satterfield said.
"If we could have narrowed it to four or five kids, we probably would have suspended those kids and not the team, but there were more involved than four or five," Satterfield said.
Satterfield was unaware if a Bishop Kelly sports team had ever been suspended for a postseason event.
"Depending on the action, we suspend the next event. I don't know if it has ever happened that the next event has been a district game or state," he said.
The Knights practiced Thursday afternoon, and Sutcliffe met with team parents later in the evening.
"The baseball team is extremely sorry for their conduct and behavior,'' Sutcliffe said. "They understand they made a mistake and will abide by the punishment. We're wanting to put this behind us.''
Satterfield notified Caldwell officials Thursday about tonight's forfeit, he said.
"We are not throwing up our arms in celebration,'' Caldwell coach Jon Choate said. "There is going to be an asterisk by the title.''
The Cougars, who will be the No. 1 seed from DistrictThree at the state tournament, were swept by Bishop Kelly during the regular season.
Caldwell players were disappointed not to have an opportunity to play Bishop Kelly again, Choate said. Tonight's game was scheduled to be played in Mountain Home.
"We feel like we have improved dramatically,'' the coach said. "We would have loved to play them.''
