An "Off" Day, or a Day Off?
Not sure what to do today...have chores that need tending to and sorting thru photographs.
Am trying to stop smoking and don't feel like doing much of anything.

Bob in Black and White
Tried something different today...an experiment. I had an old Nikon SB flash unit in with my Nikon F film camera. The contacts points looked identical to those on the D300. So...we attached the unit and these are the results. I like natural light, however it was fun making the old flash unit work.

Soapbox Time
Hear ye, hear ye...I am avoiding mediocre images in my mailbox and online. I am not sure what to say...I get angry when I see a bad photograph and read how wonderful other people think it is. I was just looking at an out of focus image (am sure this was not intentional). My stomach churns. Clarity and razor sharp edges (for the most part) are crucial. Next comes balance of light and dark and, of course, interesting subject matter and composition. The "click" of the camera does not mean one has captured a good photograph.
Suggestion: Read everything you can on the technical aspects of photography. Practice, practice, practice. Then, when you have the rules under your belt...PLAY!!! The photograph will find you.

Solitude and Observation
Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of my favorite philosophers/writers. Yesterday I found a copy of his works and last night I dove right in. I enjoy is picking out words and phrases as inspiration. One piece begins with "...go into solitude." Something to think about. Artist's need quiet times for contemplation and inspiration. Sitting and observing can awaken one's Muse.

The Orchard
As you all know, watching light is one of my most favorite things to do. This morning the light in the orchard and on the mountains caught my attention. Below are a couple of "snapshots" taken before the morning came into full bloom.
