Continuing

Interesting...no comments on UNDERPAINTING 1.  Therein lies the reason for not posting the foundation of any work in progress.  It is impossible for others to understand where I am going with any hodgepodge of paint on canvas.

This morning I worked on the painting some more.  I am not sure it will be finished by September 18.  However...it is worth continuing.  Next I will glaze in the style of the old masters and through glazing enhance details and straighten edges.

UNDERPAINTING 2

The theme of this contest is the seasons and this painting will hopefully show a reflection of an artist's studio and tear sheets, sketches, notes, etc., depicting summer, winter, spring and fall.  Who knows the elements included in this painting could change momentarily.

I love that you are posting these.  I don't have the knowledge or the education to make a comment about your effort except that I like seeing the process and hope to learn more about creative thinking.  Seems to me there is a lot of your inner self being exposed through this and I don't know if I would be comfortable with that for myself.  The phrase "style of the old masters" captures my imagination and takes my mind from the world I live in to another, more creative, calmer, more personally satisfying existance.

Underpainting 2 image is a bit easier to make out.  Like the previous comment, it wouldn't be right to critique.  Who are we?  We're just grateful that you share your creations with us.  All creative expression is beautiful!

At first glance, I really liked it & thought it was finished.  Why are you calling it an underpainting?  This is what I do not understand.  To give a comment on something that I cannot see too well, would be wrong, not that I didn't want to comment on it.  I like it the way it is, but, like I said, I wish I could see a larger image.
    looks great, so far~
