Feeling Hopeful
More images from the fair. For the first time I got to see I think they are Brahm Bulls and cows at the fair. They look different than the normal cows I'm fimiliar with.
They are a bit bigger and have floppy ears like the rabbits with the floppy ears. They also have a short snout and big brown eyes.
They have what I think of as cute faces. So you will see how I'm attrached to the faces of these critters in the few images that are up. The first image is of a cow coming out of being judged. The man with the cow seemed quite pleased and happy, I couldn't resist taking a photo of his joy.
So for a few more days to come you will see my images from the state fair.
One of things I love about digital is that it really cost very little for me to go out and just do images for fun. In ways it's been very liberating. I shot them at a fairly low resolution but all I do is put them up here and talk about them.
Also the abuilty to adapt the camera to the lighting is so much easier than it is with film. I use to like to shot B&W in varying lighting situations. Now all I have to do is change a setting on the camera and the camera is set up to shot under whatever kind of lighting.
No having to mess with filters and such. So that's another thing I like about digital.
Kayaking yesterday was great. I liked the being alone in the little boat and nobody depending on you to paddle for them. On some stretches of river, it was just bueatiful. With the sun and breeze, the water had a little chill to it but not enough to keep us out of it.
I'd paddle for awhile then I'd just drift with the current. The Duck isn't a fast river so the current was kinda slow and that was fine. We saw some cows in the river cooling off, and a horse on the riverbank. We scared the cows out of the river as well drifted by in our canoes and kayaks.
Later we saw some buzzards riding the thermal air currents up above us. I'm sure they were circling something dead not far away.
That was it for wildlife but the trees that grew along the river bank hid anything beyond it. So we saw nothing of civilization for almost all the trip. At one point I could hear the interstate not far off but we never saw it.
Last night soon as I got home and went to bed. I knew going to bed that early that I'd wake up in the middle of the night. So I woke up around 9 and watched Crossing Jordan. But in the blog entry after this one, then went back to bed and slept until a little after 6 this morning.
So I slept straight through and that was good. I'm still sore this morning but no where near as sore as I was last night.
I walked at Radnor early this morning and saw 7 deer. It was a nice walk. Then I took myself to Waffle House for breakfast. I'm attempting to keep wheat ouf of my diet, to see if it helps my depression.
It's hard, wheat is everywhere and in stuff that is so good. I've been off it for about 2 days now. Wish me luck.
