Day 3: Early preparations.
After I make this entry, I am off to the church to remake the classroom into another place. Yesterday, it was the home of Levi, a friend of Lazarus. Today, Zebedee tells the children about how his sons were lured away from their fishing business to follow Jesus.
What I like about these stories is that we hear them as told from the point of view of a family member or friend of someone whose life was changed by Jesus.
If we are lucky, we'll even have a fish to add to the sensual experience... so far no one has called to tell me they have a real fish. I may have to go buy one. I'm not a very good fisherman, and no one I know has gone fishing during these unusually hot days. I'm also looking for a real fish net. Thought I had one, but when it was opened yesterday, found out it was only six inches wide and three feet long... for floral decorations and such. Not very practical for a casting out demonstration.
I'll be attempting to create a dock scene.
I'll also be making blue jello... for the Cantina snacks... I have no idea yet what will be done with the blue jello, but I'm thinking it has something to do with symbolizing the blue water ... and possibly Goldfish will be used... I'll take pictures tonight.
Another friend is telling the story of Jesus choosing his first disciples (Matthew 4:18-22). I hope to be able to take pictures of this one since I'm not involved in it like I had been the first two days.

I like that idea too, Bea. It's a different take on the stories - not the same old, same old. I think it will really get the kids (and adults) thinking.
