In the Path of Rita

Yes, we ARE in the path of Rita as of Thursday afternoon.  We are inland, but may get hurricane force winds.  We have supplies.  We are staying.  Please say prayers for us and the entire Texas Gulf Coast area!  I'll be mostly offline before the storm to leave my telephone open.  May be without electricity for some time afterwards......so don't get anxious!  I'll be back to give a word of how we faired as soon as it's over and we have electricity and phone service!

Yes we were in Texas.  As a part of a National Guard task force working in New Orleans after Katrina we were prepositioned to Ft Polk to await the landing of Rita. After Rita had hit yet while there were still over hurricane level winds we headed south to assit in the damage.  We worked some in the Beaumont area until we were relieved by Texas NG's and then we headed to Iowa, Louisiana where we supported the eastern section of Lake Charles.  After that clean up we headed back to New Orleans for additional work there.    john

Can certainly relate to this, I went through "Alana" back in the 80's, and what a shocker it was having lived in weather friendly England all my life!. Ok, so it rains a lot....but we only get a little wet. LOL!
It was a scary time, but for the 3 yrs I lived in MS, a character building one, and I have fond memories of the Gulf coast.
Thank you for the comment in my journal "The Life Beyond". Your views are certainly leaving me thinking, as I had never looked at it from that angle. I agree, there is a lot we do not understand, and I am the kind of person who will seek understanding.
I hope you came through this storm unscathed!
Best wishes to you and your family from Suffolk, England x

I hope you will be okay. We've seen enough hurricanes as far as I'm concerned. Let us know how you are doing. I will be thinking of you.
