Week 15 in the NFL

Welcome to Week 15 in the NFL. The playoff picture is slowing coming into focus, and now is your chance to sound off about the good, the bad and the ugly in the NFL.

The champagne corks are popping all over south Florida today as the 1972 Miami Dolphins remained the only undefeated team in the long proud history of the National Football League. See what Don Shula had to say about the Dolphins and Colts when he dropped by Sports Bloggers Live.

Once again, Peyton Manning couldn't win the big game.

Hindsight is 20/20, but maybe Tony Dungy should have rested the starters.

There is bad acting, there is Peyton Manning credit card commercial very bad acting and then there is Peyton Manning on ESPN on NFL Countdown really, really bad acting.

Once the Colts started saying they were going to run the table, we should have known that they were in trouble. The Chargers came in to the Colts house and punched them in the mouth.

You don't think the Patriots were paying attention?

Week 14 in the NFL

Thanks for checking out this week's NFL chalk talk. This is the place where you can rant and rave about the good, the bad and the ugly in today's NFL.

Is Reggie headed to Texas?

The '72 Dolphins kept their bubbly on ice for another week but the Reggie Bush sweepstakes heated up and took some interesting turns. Don't know who Reggie Bush is? He's Jesus in cleats, the next football superstar and you will soon have his poster on your wall.

There are three teams deep in the Reggie Bush chase. There are three weeks left until the NFL can officially declare a Reggie winner. So if you're team was leading the Reggie Bush sweeps - would you root for your team to lose?

Right now the leader in the clubhouse is the Houston Texans. The last time we checked we thought professional football left Houston in 1996. We were wrong.

Week 13 in the NFL

Thanks for dropping by the NFL Chalk Talk. Here is your chance to talk about the highs and lows of Week 13 in the NFL.

It was a relatively quiet week in the NFL and not just because Chad Johnson was kept out of the end zone. So much for the greatest touchdown dance ever, maybe next week CJ. The Colts continue to roll, the Bengals' bandwagon is getting full and the Giants bounced back to take control of the NFC East.

Speaking of the Giants, what was going on with their "alternative" home jerseys?  We understand the NFL needs to squeeze every last dollar out of the paying customer, but let's make sure the jersey looks good. The Bengals own the ugly NFL uniform, but many teams are giving them a run for their money. But at least the Browns haven't broken out their "it must be the first day of deer season" all-orange uniforms. And for that - we are thankful.

What are your thoughts on Week 13?

Week 12 in the NFL

Welcome to another addition of the NFL Chalk Talk. This is the place where you, the NFL fan, can sound off about the good, the bad and the ugly in today's NFL.

Since we are still in the Thanksgiving spirit -- all we can say is we are thankful for No. 85 in the stripped helmet. He makes our job a lot easier. We think CJ brings a little fun to the game. He's not a 'can't spell TEAM without M-E' guy like that other diva receiver collecting checking in Philly.  That's not to say he doesn't have a ego -- all the great ones have healthy ego.

So far this year, Chad Johnson has given the ball CPR, proposed to a cheerleader and danced like Michael Flatley. On Sunday CJ went Caddyshack on the Ravens.

Johnson said his touchdown putt was a tribute to Tiger Woods. "I'm a big fan of Tiger," he said. "I don't know any other way to let him know I'm better than him than by showing my skills after a touchdown. That was a good one - not one of my best. I've got a very good one next week to top everything I've done so far."

That quote is one of the many reasons we are looking forward to next week's Steelers-Bengals game.

We have a couple of ideas for CJ's endzone celebration that will "top everything he's done so far."

The Man in the Box: CJ imitates an annoying mime in the park. This might be hard because we can't see Johnson keeping his mouth shut.

The Free Throw: CJ shoots the football over the goalpost.

The Icky Shuffle: Everything old is new again. CJ pays homage to the original Cincinnati celebration.

Dora the Explorer: CJ pulls out a map because he couldn't find the endzone the last time the Bengals played the Steelers.

What are your ideas for Chad Johnson's next endzone dance?

Week 11 in the NFL

Thanks for checking out the NFL Chalk Talk blog for Week 11 in the National Football League.  Now is your chance to vent about the good, the bad and the ugly in the NFL. Post your thoughts now!

Just in time for Thanksgiving, you can put a fork in the NFL's most popular bird - the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles season of doom rolls on. Blame it on Terrell Owens, blame it on the Madden Curse or blame it on the fact that football is a sport of controlled violence and people get hurt - including star quarterbacks.

Terrell Owens hasn't broken a sweat for the Eagles in two weeks, but we still can't stop talking about it. Some of TO's teammates say they would welcome him back with open arms. Even Chad Johnson got into the act - after he scored a touchdown he wrote on a dry erase board: "T.O. I Got You Baby."

Week 10 in the NFL

Thanks for checking this week’s NFL chalk talk. As usual, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison tore it up and set new high-water marks as the Colts took their record to 9-0. But isn't there some way these guys could make their efforts more exciting? We've got a few ideas (see below). Please post your own thoughts.

1. Peyton Manning could decide he's not "just a pocket-passer" and start using his legs to make headlines. Hey, why should Michael Vick get all the endorsement deals?

2. We all know Marvin Harrison's not going to start doing Chad Johnson-style end-zone dances, but he could hire Drew Rosenhaus just to spice things up a bit off the field.

3. Edgerrin James could shave his dreads, decide to quit the NFL for a year or so and tour the world with Snoop Dogg.

4. Hey Mike Vanderjagt -- unzip it and rip it dude.

5. C'mon Tony, just one cuss word. You can apologize afterward.

Week 9 in the NFL

Thanks for checking this week’s NFL chalk talk. Once again Terrell Owens is making news off the field. What will the Eagles do with him? Is he worth the trouble? Post your thoughts.

The Terrell Owens saga took another bizarre twist this week after the Eagles suspended No. 81 “for conduct detrimental to the team.” It turns out that detrimental conduct was a WWE-style smackdown with former Eagle and self-proclaimed Philly “bad-ass-ador” Hugh Douglas. (Bad-ass-ador translates to ambassador for those of you who lost their Douglas to English dictionary.

We’ve dug up some of our favorite Terrell Owens’ NFL Films video clips. Surprisingly we don’t have any film of TO actually putting his foot in his mouth.

The Best of TO

How T.O. Gets 'Diesel'

TO Wired for Sound

So what should the Eagles do about TO? You make the call!

Week 8 in the NFL

Thanks for checking out this week's NFL Chalk Talk. As you know this is your chance to comment on today's happenings in the National Football League. Post your take on the good, the bad and the ugly in the NFL.

Sometimes when we are watching a pro football game in the AOL Sports office, someone will say "(insert football player's name here) is really good." Today that person was Antonio Gates.

Let's be honest, if it wasn't for fantasy football most people wouldn't be able to identify a tight end if one of them sat next to them on a bus. (Well maybe they would say "Wow. There is a big dude sitting next to me. I should get off at the next stop.") But during Sunday's Chiefs-Chargers the torch was officially passed to the next great tight end in the League.

Tony Gonzalez say hello to Antonio Gates.

Gates and Gonzo are very similar, both played college basketball but Gates beat Gonzo in a game of HORSE during last year's Pro Bowl.

Here's our GBU from Week 8.

The Good: Tiki Barber and the Giants

The Bad: Brett Favre

The Ugly: The Bengals pumpkin uniforms

Week 7 in the NFL

Welcome to this week's NFL Chalk Talk. This blog is the place for you, the sports fan, to share your voice with the Internet masses.

As usual the AOL Sports editors watch a lot of football during Week 7. The one thing that stuck this week was the bizarre touchdown dances. Just in case you haven't watched the highlights yet, here's the highs and lows from the endzone this week.

"The Waiter:" Terrell Owens is always on the cutting edge of touchdown celebrations. After failing to reach the endzone last week, he scored his fifth touchdown of the season. Then he pulled out a towel, draped it over his arm and held the football like it was on a platter. Not to be outdone, Keenan McCardell scored a touchdown and did the exact same thing.

Originality Score: Owens - Seven out of ten.
McCardell - Two out of  ten. (TO did it first.)

"The Cartwheel:" Clinton Portis has a stripper pole, a hot tub, a waterbed and mirrored ceilings in his basement. This has nothing to do with his three touchdowns he scored on Sunday, but we thought you'd like to know this about Mr. Portis.

Originality Score: Eight out of 10. Portis' fantasy owners were doing cartwheels on Sunday also.

"I Can't Dance:" Hines Ward did an odd version of an Irish step dance, one can only assume this was in tribute to Chad Johnson's dance a couple of weeks ago. One downer note, No. 85 had the Bengals opening touchdown overturned. His dance didn't count and the world is a little sadder place because of it.

Originality score: Six out of ten. Ward's touchdown dances always seen to mock the opposing team's star receiver - remember last year's 'bird dance' against the Eagles?

"The Centerfold:" LaMont Jordan scored three touchdowns on Sunday, single-handedly propelling a number of fantasy teams to victory. But did you see his second score? He laid down in the endzone, propped his head up and crossed his legs - we are waiting for him to send some proofs to Hef.

Originality score: Five out of ten. We've seen that before, but it's not so memorable that we can remember who did it first.

The Giants' Amani Toomer caught the game winning touchdown against the Broncos with something like three seconds left on the clock. He was then mobbed by his teammates. That was the best endzone celebration we saw all day.

What was your highlight or lowlight from this week? Tell us now!

Week 6 in the NFL

Welcome to Week 6 of the NFL Chalk Talk. As all of our loyal readers know, this blog is place for you to make the call on this week in the NFL. Make sure to post your take now!

There are 10,000 lakes in Minnesota, unfortunately for the Minnesota Vikings there were two boats on one of those lakes. According to media reports, several Vikings football players were involved in a booze-soaked cruise that included public sex between consenting adults.

Oh, the NFL just loves sex scandals!

This is just the latest problem facing the Men of Tice. It all started when Mike Tice was busted last year for scalping his Super Bowl tickets. Then the starting running back tries to smuggle a Whizzinator through the airport. Randy Moss was traded because he was the troublemaker! Oh yeah - and this just in - the Vikings stink.

Can the Vikings season get any worse? Tell us what you think!

This is the bloggers has to say about Week 6 in the NFL:

The only thing successful Culpepper was able to do today was to lead the team down the road of failure, and VikingsReview says he was quite good at that.

The LionsDen says Same story different week; Joey Harrington is ineffective again.

The Raiders should do themselves, and especially their fans, a tremendous favor by throwing in their silver and black towel effective immediately so blogs East Bay Grease
