The Quills 2006: And the nominees are...
You can vote here for The Quills. I'm going to give you that Web site several times!
Take a look at the nominees, which I am delighted to say include 'Water for Elephants,' which we promoted here on AOL Books.
More to come! Oh, and... VOTE!

Sheryl, I actually promoted 'The Girls' a couple of months ago -- it's great, isnt' it? I was amazed at how delicately Lansens examined sisterhood.
Majbeck, you flatter me... but I was delighted, too, to see that I've managed to keep up with what readers like to some extent. Gives me a goal for next year... to see if I can promote MORE Quills-nominated titles in advance. -
I am so okay with reading books written in intellectual whoredom ( whatever that may entail) ... and my votes are in. I thought the nominee list was a great representation of the talent that is out there writing today- both experienced, successful writers and those just starting out.
Bethanne, the thing I find most telling, is that alot of the nominees are books that you have brought up in your blog, and recommended in AOL books- you have a keen eye for a good book. I will keep reading what you suggest, unless of course you decided to recommend Dickens. -
Hey Beth
I don't know if you like comments about other books than you're writing about, but just in case, I just read the most amazing book called The Girls, by Lori Lansens. It's a fiction novel about conjoined twins joined at the side of the head and is an autobiograhpy. It was published in canada and a friend of mine bought it over there and gave it to me. Truthfully, when she told me about the book I didn't think I'd be interested in reading it but she gave it to me anyway, and wow! it is one of the best books I've read in a long time. many 5 star reviews on amazon.
