Fictional Perspectives on 9/11

As I said last Friday, today is a somber anniversary; I hope you'll take a look at our AOL Books Gallery of 'Watching the World Change' by David Friend. I think it's one of the most integrated and compelling packages out there on 9/11. (And speaking of our promotion, it also features interviews with Kristen Breitweiser and Tom Kean; another voice on Breitweiser's book is here in Carol Fitzgerald's Bookreporter.com blog.)

This year, several novels have come out that show authors grappling with the events of September 11, 2001. I'd like to highlight a few of them here so that readers will have a chance to sample different perspectives. There are others, and I'm not ignoring them; these are the ones I have read:

    I read, on your recommendation Maven, THE WHOLE WORLD OVER this summer bythe pool. It was tremendous, complex, thoughtful. I am a huge Nelson DeMille fan, and am awaiting WILD FIRE. I do not remember you talking about The EMPEROR'S CHILDREN, and none of the book remarks I have read mention 9-11, although, it does sound interesting,I will probably pass. The book I will pick up of this list ( that I wouldn't read otherwise) would be Jay McInerney's...
