Late-breaking news: The Quills

I did 20 red-carpet interviews tonight at The Quill Awards at the American Museum of Natural History, and can't wait to bring them to you: I talked to everyone from Bill Alexander ('The $64 Tomato' -- he just happens to be married to my mom's doctor); to Harry Connick, Jr.; to Don Trump, Jr. (escorting Miss Universe); to Judy Blume; to The Donald himself -- and many amazing authors in between, including Elizabeth Kostova, Lewis Black and Peter Bart (editor in chief of Variety).

I'll link to a list of all the winners tomorrow, but for now: 'A Dirty Job' by Christopher Moore won for General Fiction, 'Julie & Julia' by Julie Powell won for Debut Author, and 'Marley & Me' by John Grogan won twice, for Best Audiobook and Best Memoir.

Also chatted with Sara Nelson, Karen Holt, Cevin Bryerman, John Vaccaro and Bill McGorry of Publisher's Weekly; talked to Nelson DeMille about his impending fatherhood (the baby is due in a week and a half!), hugged Katie Finch and Judy Hottensen of Miramax Books and spent some time in the media queue with my pal Sarah Weinman from Galley Cat.

More to tell, but at this rate, "late check-in" at my hotel is going to mean midnight. Your Book Maven is scarcely a Cinderella, but she does need her...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. G'night...
