Apologia pro vita mea -- whatcha reading?

In other words, let me explain why I haven't blogged in two days... have been in NY and have some fun events I attended to tell you about, some publishing world news for us to ruminate over, etc., etc. -- but in the meantime, what is everyone else reading right now? I just picked up 'The Book of Lost Things' by Jim Collins. I've never read any of his work before (actually, with apologies to my long-suffering colleague and editor Karen Holt at Publisher's Weekly, I snagged the galley from her office bookshelf). I started to read it last night and was drawn in to the story of twelve-year-old David, whose mother's death unleashes a whole new way of life for him that's mystical, fantastical, dark and very, very bookish. I think I'm going to enoy this one!

Now, how about you?

I'm reading "Why we love", by Helen Fisher. Its about what happens to our brain when we are in love.

"The Book of Lost Things" was actually written by John Connolly.  His previous works are also amazing.  I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this one.  Border's website has a link to an interview with Connolly that provides insight to the writing of this novel.

    Bethanne:

New topic!  AOL published an article saying books are one of five things you should never buy new.  Now, if no one bought new books, there wouldn't BE any new books.  This was appalling news for those of us--namely, me--who makes a living writing books.  That's worth a discussion thread, I think!
