Well, I worked as hard as I could trying to knock out my 3 weeks of built up stack. It could be worse, but let me tell ya ---it's bad enough. I had to copy some information for a legal case....I have had to do that WAAAAAY to much lately. But I got that done.
I worked on left over benefit issues most of the day. Unfortunately. Several folks turning in late forms and I spent time trying to contact those who had turned in incomplete data on their forms. Much of it is corrected. But SEVERAL folks have not turned in forms at all. I've had to go in and re-print their form (pain in the butt) and give it to their supervisors to complete so that these employees at least get their company paid short term, long term, and life insurance. Their own lack of responsibility is about to keep them from having the free "stuff". I'm documenting every form sent, every memo sent, and calling every employee at home as well. I resent having to do this, but I don't want to leave any stone unturned. I want no one blaming me when an employee dies and did not sign up for the free life insurance, or gets cancer and oopss not covered under the free disability. It will be documented, dates and all and copies of what was done to try and contact these employees (postings, memos, emails, phone calls, and so forth). At some point someone must take responisbility for themselves and I won't take the blame on their behalf. Refuse to. I already resent having to even try and contact them the 4th time.
But it pays off to keep notes on these types of things to cover your butt (CYB). Seems more and more I have to cover my butt. But even yesterday, I got a call asking why something wasn't done. I was able to prove "I had done my part" and was waiting on someone else to do their part. The person was blaming me for not reminding someone enough. I calmly asked, "tell me if I'm wrong here but is 3 times enough to ask someone to do something or should it be more?"....my copies of emails cleared my own butt which was being chewed at the time. I was very calm and polite with the accusing person on the other end of the phone whose own name was on the line. She quickly realized I was telling the truth (after reading the emails) and realized I was not at fault. ......<<<<<Picture scenes of heaven opening with angels singing "hallejah">>>>>>...................yep. Always good to take notes, document, and prove your point...b/c in todays world...no one wants to be blamed and they'll sure point their finger at you if they can. It's a shame the world is that way. But it is. So....call me the note taker...cause I'll certainly be taking note of it. LOL
Today was LONG HORN day and I met Bee. It was just she and I and we got to talk about lots of things...I took longer than normal for lunch today. Why? Because I deserve it. LOL <As she remembers the 70 hour work week entering benefit forms before her vacation week> Does that mean I got my vacation or did I just work two weeks of work in one so I could go? LOL
Well, I also had to take care of completing some benefit documents for the benefit unit of the child support division for our state. This means an employee is being required to take benefits on his children thru the state. When I respond to these I have to make sure coverage is elected in the system...if not I have to manually make it happen. Then I have to send the benefits package to the party who has made the claim (usually the mother filed against the father). So today I had to mail out packets to two different mothers so they would know and understand the benefit coverage in which their "ex" (aka our employee) is covering the children for. Some of that took up my afternoon. I also processed a promotion and back pay for that and also a steel toe shoe reimbursement and turned all that in to payroll to pay. So it was a busy day. If you made it this far.....then thanks for letting me rant. LOL
Well, I'm so glad it is a 4 day weekend. Woo Hoo.
Tonight Hubby got some steaks from StockYard that a business associate sent him. There have been a few years in the past where we got these. Oh these steaks are so good. We were sent filet mignon. Oh my. We have been expecting the steaks to be delivered and were hoping they wouldn't come while we were at Mom's. Luckily for us they were shipped late. They were packed in dry ice and were frozen when arrived. They are safely in our freezer....
But dry ice....oh my.....if you know us AT ALL. You know we are having fun with that tonight. First of all Hubby put it in the sink. Then I suggested that we put it in the TOILET. So that is where it is now. I've video'd 4 different videos of this. And will put them all on YouTube....which will tarnish our reputation for live. LOL LOL LOL
What I didn't put on video is using the toilet with dry ice in it. Only a slight chapping of the bum. And a few clouds pouring forth from the throne but all is well....and the dry ice still remains to taunt the next user.
Once I get the videos on YouTube....I'll post and let you know.
Gosh...I have to change the sheets tonight....we have tossed and turned so much last night they are off the bed anyway. I couldn't sleep and was up at 3:00. First Ginger the cat wanted out. Then Tugie began wheezing and carrying on. She has not felt good all day. She has eaten some but not much. She has played though a bit so it is not too bad. She did not want to eat dinner tonight. I'm thinking it is because all during Christmas she was off her normal diet. And I think she is paying for it. Bless her heart.
Well, nite nite.....

I am looking forward to seeing the videos.
Good idea on the note taking I am going to make a habit of it myself. Thanks for the good idea.

I am glad to see that you are CYA on the HR benefits and other items. It is a shame that people will not take responsibility for themselves, but, alas that is the way of the world today. They expect someone else to do it for them. Hope Tugie feels better, maybe she had too many treats of the holidays.......

Wow did you ever get a lot accomplished. I remember having to document every phone call and email and so forth back when I worked in personnel also. I know it was probably a huge pain but I am so glad to hear you are on top of things concerning sending the benefit information to the mothers who live out of state for the covered children of the divorced parents. I am in the same boat and had to call child support and beg them to write a letter before husband's company would send the package. It actually took me nearly two years just to get a medical coverage card so I could take Nick to the doctor! Ridiculously amazing! One day we sat in the doctor's office for like three hours until we could prove we had coverage, and really, it was the ex's fault for not going to his HR department and getting the card for us. My poor baby was sick with the flu and we could not get in to see doctor that whole time due to that mess. What you did may have saved someone's life. Cheers and bravo from this Mom!! Hope you have a nice long and enjoyable weekend!!!! You deserve it!!! I'm going through the same thing... about working tons of hours in order to get my vacation. They sent me five days of call sheets to do in only three days before I can leave on our anniversary trip. Unbelievable that they are doing this to us. But I'm keeping my chin up and I know you are too. Sorry for the long comment.... LOL I just have so much to say today. LOL
Hugs,
Lisa
