Tonight's word is Irony.....
We have the secondary awards night at school and TheTeen gets 3 awards. I am thinking that the candid camera dude is going to jump up at any moment and tell me the last three days have all been just a funny joke. But.....the irony is...she has a failing average in 2 classes and a C in another.
However, the awards ceremony brought her the award above for Most Outstanding Writer of her class. Which was awesome and she is indeed a very good writer. And also she got an award for perfect attendance. I am thinking that one is not correct b/c she was absent the day we closed. Hubby and I looked at each other in confusion. They must have not included data from this last few weeks (?).
And then she got an award for making A average. I am thinking that this must have been for the year or something and not including the last few weeks either. Hubby George and looked at each other in confusion...again. Yes, this was the BIG irony.

So quite the night for irony...but we are appreciative of all the awards tonight and "we'll take 'em"....
TheTeen said that she feels that she can make a B in the class that she has a C in. She feels she can also either get a B or C in biology as the lowest grade will be dropped. She feels the Geometry grade will be improved as well...but not sure it will be a B. So at least there is some hope and some effort. We have had many conversations about all this the past two days. She says she has just been too busy and tired for school and too much going on.
Well, moving on....

When we got home from the awards ceremony, our Bob had moved from her pillow. She was in the alcove (a little room off to the side in the basement/garage area). I saw she had a gaping hole in her side that was the size of a dime or a nickel and it was not pretty. I will just say that it was very deep. We had not seen this before. I had noticed thismorning her fur was ruffled there and assumed she had been trying to lick her hip area where she seemed to be hurt but she had been improving and walking around more.
We attempted to do first aid on her....all of us very tired from long work/school day and then the school event....so we tried to administer first aid until we could get her to a vet tomorrow. She would not allow the bandage to stay on as it was bothering her. She bit it off in a hurry to lick her wound. I told George...."we must get her to an emergency clinic...she can't be like this all night she is miserable now". He quickly agreed. TheTeen was a big help. She was the calm of the storm. She ran and got the local phone book, and had also been the one to get the emergency supplies earlier. I decided we'd call the vet we used for the rabies shots knowing that they would have a message on their answering machine for who to call or where to go in an emergency. It had an on call vet who met us at the clinic. We are only 3 minutes away from the clinic. It's just a block from where our neighborhood road meets the main road. The vet was there a minute later. He was confused as he saw Tugie first and said "I thought you said it was a cat"....<lol>....but we pointed at the cat carrier. And he said "oh ok". We thanked him and apologized for having to get him out tonight. He said "no problem" and took Bob on the exam table and dressed her wound and gave her antibiotics. He gave us the option to take her home and bring her back, or to leave her overnight, which he recommended. We agreed to leave her and let her stay protected there in the cage and they will be in very early in the morning to take care of her. He took our info and told us to call the clinic at 10:00 tomorrow. He said that she had an abscess which he explained is an infection. We still don't know how the hole got there as it was not there before. I guess we'll know more tomorrow. This has just been an odd situation. You know Friday she could hardly move...then Saturday she was better, then Sunday not doing as well then Monday better again..we never saw any kind of wound and she just seems like she has a sore leg or hip. All so odd.
Anyway, Hubby has agreed to cat duty tomorrow as I have lawyers on site and important meetings going on in the morning...hewill call them and then go pick her up when needed. We hope that it is good news and we hope not an arm and a leg. But we just can't stand to see her suffer. Before she was not acting like she was in much pain, but she was miserable tonight when we got home.
So pray for our little Bob Bob...
Now I'm very tired and need sleep.

I'm so sorry about Bob! He's in my prayers! Keep us updated. Congrats to the teen on her awards!

Good for Teen. Strange but good!
As for abcesses, they start as infections and then they "blow out" like a tire. Hence the abcess.
I was over at Casa Vieja last night after getting adjusted at Living Well Chiropractor and who did I see walking into Avanti? Marty Stewart! He even looked at us! Well, everyone looked at us, Emma was on crutches...

Very nice award....sorry about Bob but he will be fine with a good dose of antibiotics...so happy you got him to the ER Vet. TheTeen sounds like she is improving those grades and is so helpful too. I hope you get good news when you call this morning on Bob...hugs and love,
Joyce
