Sunday's Stories.....

The iris beds are starting to wind down for the season.  Some still in bloom standing...more of them saying good bye to us.  Hubby spent some time out in the iris beds today.  Did he think I missed a few things?  LOL  I'll have to ask.  I saw him out the window...

So take a good look, I'll probably not be posting any more iris pics til next year.  I hate it Aunti M.  I wanted you to see them in person when you come on the 31st.

There are some lilies in the mix here...They'll be blooming before we know it (I guess).

And here is Elsie the cow.  Hubby painted this for me when we moved in the other house. I had commented on how I loved cows and how we had to go thru the country to get to our house from work.  Well that was 15 years ago and the place built up and the countryside is "no more"...but at least Elsie the cow lasted.  I really do love seeing cows in the countryside.  I no longer care for them in my house as far as decor goes...but there was a day when I had several decor cows in my house.   LOL  Ducks were before that.  Now I don't want to see a duck in my house.  LOL  I had too many.

Watering is much easier with this purchase below.  We bought this last week at the ACE Hardware store grand opening last weekend.  It works well and makes things much easier with the hose.

I sit in this spot often ...just for a few moments...usually after working in the yard.  Just so peaceful and I get a good feeling from being there.  A reward type of feeling.  It is a spiritual feeling.  And I often pray here...prayers of thanks for blessing us.  And for giving us so many beautiful flowers.  The Lord has impressed me with his meeting my desires, as I've mentioned before.  I sooooodon't feel worthy.  But he has been good to us.  And I will do what I can to take care of it all.   We are busy, but happy here.

Well, this morning I woke TheTeen up and told her we only had 45 minutes to get ready.  Five minutes before we were to pull out of the garage...she was in the shower.  I didn't realize it but Hubby came to get me and said "go get her out of the shower".  So we had to hurry her up and then we had to figure out if we were going to be late to the new church we were going to go to...or just go to the one we went to last week.  We were so mad at her.  I was very surprised at this.

Anyway, we made it on time despite all this...only TheTeen had very wet hair going into Sunday school.

The new church was kinda out of the way....it was in the country so to speak....and took about 20 minutes to get to.  Our old church would only be 35 minutes away...but it was bigger than I thought it would be.  The folks were very friendly.  Mostly older folks there.  Very few people our age in Sunday School.  A few more in church.  I'm thinking we would fit in to a bigger church a little better for our spiritual needs.  We DID meet the twin brother of someone that used to go to our old church, before he passed away.  For those who are reading from my old church that know "pappy"....It's Huelin's twin brother....!!!!!  We were thrilled to meet him.  He could hardly hear us tell him that, but we told his wife to tell him how much we think of that family and how much we loved "pappy" and his wife, Ms. Joann.   What a treat.  What a small world.  The church was a nice church, but I believe we will probably go to the one that is like 5 minutes away.  There is still one I want to visit and we may do that next Sunday.  I'll see what Hubby wants to do.  TheTeen of course, liked the country church and liked the Sunday school better.  Hubby liked the church we went to last week, the big one, the one that is close.   What I have feared is that we will all like different ones.   So I guess we'll try that third one out and see about it.  Soon we want to visit at our old church just to seeeveryone.

We ate a Wendy's after church and then did a huge Kroger trip.  With all three of us shopping, it was way more than normal.  Maybe we won't need much next week then.  LOL

We came home and I spent much of the afternoon going thru some boxes.  I have created stashes of stuff for Hubby to go thru, TheTeen to go thru, and for me to go thru...to decided whether it goes to yard sale, storage, keep or what.....These were some boxes we threw stuff in at the last minute.  Some of it just hard to part with, most of it has no place here.  I guess we are going to have to make some tough decisions.  What good does it do to keep putting things in storage (storage is in our basement area).  I have moved a lot of stuff at the bottom of the stairs that needs to go upstairs.  Every time I go up I'll take something with me.  I also staged some more boxes that need to go upstairs to be unpacked.

It took a lot less time packing all this up.  It seems forever unpacking.  I guess b/c we are decorating too, and trying to find homes for things as everything is so different.  Thank goodness we have the basement.  I'd die if all this stuff was up here and we were crawling over it.  It is nice to close the basement off and then come up here where all is neat and organized.  LOL  I'm sure it will all come together eventually.  I kept thinking we were about thru, but we are not...the boxes just keep coming from no where.  No fret though...I won't be quite finished by the time my family comes on the 31st, but they are a forgiving bunch.  They can just look at the boxes and unfinished rooms and just laugh along with us and help give us ideas for updates.  LOL.  It will never be perfect...a residence is always a work in progress.

Today the garage door quit working...well it was more like my door opener remote thingie wouldn't work.  Hubby hit the reset button and suddenly it works again.  Hubby said he thinks we have some kind of "radio interference" going on.  As it messed with our sound machine ---sounded like someone pecking on the window...and then the remote to the garage quit working.  I'm teasingly told him it was the evil spirits as they like tampering with electronics and they liked the older owners better.  LOL  Hopefully that is not true.  The last thing we need is a haunted house.  If it is...I guess they mess with plumbing too.

TheTeen and Hubby went out in the yard to find insects for TheTeen's bug project in which she gets extra credit for turning in a bug board with insects posted and identified.  Hubby got a field guide at the library for her.  Where are bugs when you need 'em?  LOL  I really don't think they were very well equipped with bug catching equipment.  A fish net?  LOL  They needed a big net....you should have seen them trying to catch the butterfly.  The called me the butterfly whisperer b/c the butterfly would come to my voice when I called it from the sun room.  LOL  But they could not catch it with the fish net.  LOL  I'm talking small fish net...like an aquarium fish net. They are going out again tonight to try again.  Hubby put some insect strips in the woods too...in hopes something will "stick to it"....

I fixed meatloaf tonight, at TheTeen's request.  We sure attacked it.  I mix the meat with oats, honey mustard bbq sauce, 2 eggs, and onions, and any seasonings....then cook for 45 minutes.  After about 1/2 way thru I put honey mustard bbq sauce on top of the meat to cook on there for added flavor.  I fixed corn (the frozen kind that comes in a tube - kinda like sausage) and also fixed sugar snap peas - the frozen kind you steam in the bag.  So convenient.  Dinner was easy.  I'll have to fix that again.  We love it so. We ate in the sunroom tonight.

Well, I've been sneezing all day.  Had a sore throat this morning but it disappeared with coffee.  What on earth am I allergic too?  It's been such an easy spring so far.  Haven't had too much in the way of allergies - even with all the flowers.

Well, I'm going to go watch my movie "The Heartbreak Kid".  Then get a good nights sleep.

Everyone have a good work week.

I am drooling on these iris!!!  So pretty!  I really enjoy these pictures Sonya!!  I can see why that would be a nice place to have prayer there on the patio.  Love that cow!!  The meatloaf recipe sounds good.  It sounds like you all enjoyed the other church more.  Yes, we drive a long ways to our church too because it is bigger and the one by us that I would choose for a second option is too small looking to me on even the outside and barely no parking lot.  I think we will keep driving the twenty minute drive even though it makes us late ALL the time.  LOL.  I think God understands.  But the kids seem at home there now and so we keep driving all the way over there.  Initially we went there hoping sister would come too  as it was close to her house and she is so very shy and works Sundays but has not worked out for her to go.  In the meantime we fell in love with it.  Hubby says it is too far sometimes but I think he is at home there too.  Thank you for the warning about Heartbreak Kid so we won't rent it.  I am picky about our movies too and I sure do appreciate these thoughts because so many movies are so terrible these days.  Hugs,

Flowers are so pretty...your yard is just beautiful.  I know you are loving this new home.  I hate it when the garage door stops working.  First thing I do is check the fuse box in the basement.   Love the cow...so cute!
Hope you have a lovely week...hugs and love,

My Iris's are just starting to bloom now.  I'll take some pictures of them and post them.  Nicci did that same bug project.  It was fun actually.  I couldn't pin the bugs on the board though.  Yucky!  Well, enjoy your monday.
