Let's pretend that LIFE is a BEACH............LOL
I'm not going to talk about work much tonight other than this paragraph. But I will say that it has been a horrible work week. And the computers have been off line a good part of the last few days. It has totally been a FULL MOON effect going on there. I have really become a hardened career person now and a little bit wary and untrusting of humans now...by some of the experiences we've had lately. LOL I'm great though at not letting it get to me and not letting it come home with me....bye bye...see ya...The problem employees end up taking up all my time where I can't get things done for the ones who are trying to work hard and do right. And that really bothers me of course for them...but you know what? It is what it is...there's lots of evil on this earth trying to smash out goodness left and right..and just goes to show you that the devil works in manufacturing plants too. His angels abound there I think. I hope he gets his pitch fork hung in the machine. Arghhh...

TheTeen told me today she got a call from her cheer leading coach who has called a" mandatory fund raiser" (car wash) for this Saturday from 9:00 to 3:00. Ah-hum...this is two days notice and on a holiday weekend? We already have plans as someone invited us to a graduation party in another town from 1:00 to 5:00 and we RSVP'd weeks ago that we'd attend. I told TheTeen that we would get her there for the first 1.5 to 2 hours but she would have to take clothes to change and leave early as we have stops to make on the way to the party that is two counties away. When I got home I had an email telling parents about the mandatory fund raiser. My blood was boiling. This is unacceptable timing and planning. And I let my feelings be known. TheTeen said I was MEAN! I was upset...and couldn't believe it...What do you think? Here is what I sent the coach...
Coach K,
I was very surprised to find out on Thursday of a mandatory fund raiser two days from now on a holiday weekend. We want to be very supportive of the cheer leading event and plan to have <TheTeen> where she needs to be on all occasions. However, for this to be a successful adventure we will have to have more advance notice than two days for such events especially on the weekends and even more so for holiday weekends. We made plans three weeks ago to attend a graduation party and we have RSVP'd and they are expecting us to come. We intend on keeping this engagement and feel with the lack of notice given on the fund raising event that you will understand that <TheTeen> will not be able to help the entire event - but about 1.5 to 2 hours of the day as we have to be in <another city> by 1:00 with stops to make on the way. I do not want this to penalize <TheTeen> in any way. This is not her fault that this has come up at the last minute. For it to be a success for the girls I really feel these fund raisers should be planned and advertised. We are here to help you. Just let us know in advance and we can be there as well as get the word out and do anything we can to help you put these on. It's hard to help with such little notice. I hate she won't be there the entire time but it is just too late for us to change our plans at this late date. I'm sure you understand.
Thanks.
Well, anyway, they'll do much better and have more success, more turnout, and more support from parents...if they think ahead and do some planning. Now, I will let them wash my car Saturday....if we have time...I also have an eye appt. at 9:00. A busy Saturday for sure.
TheTeen and I ate the salad bar at Ruby's...we ordered the mini burgers and fries to go with it...b/c it is only 50 cents more to get that with the salad bar. So then we asked for to go boxes....and now we have an extra meal in the fridge for Hubby if he wants it after raquetball. LOL What a deal huh?
Well, I'm going to head to bed and watch TV in bed...Thanks for listening to my venting.

I've heard other car wash fund raiser's going on this weekend...and parents are upset here too...
Seems they could pick another weekend. Hope your eye appointment goes well and you ALL have a nice holiday weekend...hugs and love,

You have got to be kidding about the car wash.....& on a holiday weekend at that. I don't think you were mean at all with the e-mail. I agree totally! They are lucky that she'll be there at all in my opinion. Have a great weekend!!!
Hollie -
You were so on the mark to let the cheerleading coach know that it is not acceptable to ask for your daughter's time on a holiday weekend with only a two day notice. Sometimes these fund raisers get out of hand and the demands on our kids time is ridiculous. Hockey is the big sport where I live and not only are you expected to raise funds about four times a year by selling things, but if you don't sell all that you're given, the parents are expected to buy the rest. Not exactly a level playing field for a family low on funds!
Hugs from Minnesota -
I think your email to the coach was perfect. Two days notice is NOT enough time for busy parents.
