WPT To Hold Tournaments in China
The World Poker Tour conquered another feat. This time, the WPT has reached an agreement with China to hold poker tournaments in the next five years and, hoprfully, beyond. "The World Poker Tour (WPT) has signed an agreement with the China Leisure Sports Administrative Center to
promote “the sport of poker, by helping to create, expand and
commercialize China’s first ever national poker competition,” according

2007 WSOP Final Table Set
The Final Table for the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is set with all players first timers. Final table action starts Tuesday, July 17, at noon PST at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas.

PokerStars Launches APPT
Online poker giant, PokerStars, has launched Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).
From the Philippines to Australia, the tour will bring world-class
poker action to some of the most exotic destinations and luxurious
casinos in the world.
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour launch event will take place on on
August 23-26 at the five star Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila in the
Philippines with the second event moving on in Seoul, South Korea.
These will be the first major televised poker tournaments held in both
of these countries. At least three more events are expected for 2007
and the venues will be announced later in the year.
The tour culminates in December this year with the Grand Final in
the majestic Star City Casino in Sydney, Australia. This $5,000 buy-in
event will be held in their spectacular poker room which overlooks the
city’s world famous icon, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Satellites will be available on PokerStars poker room from July 1st with buy-ins starting from as little as a $22 dollars.
Poker Stars
will also be running freerolls for every event so that every poker
player across the world will be able to compete in these events,
whatever their bankroll.

Phil Hellmuth Wins 11th Bracelet, Makes WSOP History
The Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth, made history at the 2007 WSOP by winning his 11th golden bracelet breaking away from the 10-bracelet triple toe with Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan.
“I’m on top of the world,” said an ecstatic Hellmuth who plays under the Ultimate Bet poker team. He also takes the $637,254 first prize.
Hellmuth entered the final table in second place with 1,482,000 in
chips. He quickly took control of his opponents and claimed an early
lead. The ‘Poker Brat’ outlasted a field of 2,628. However, it's still too early to say if he can keep the record for the entire 2007 WSOP tournament.

WSOP Event #3 Sets Record Players
Event #3, $1,500 No Limit Holdem, of the ongoing World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2,998 players.
This ranks as the third-largest poker
tournament of all-time, behind the 2005 and 2006 championship (main)
events.
The winner of the event is Ciaran O'Leary, originally from Ireland. He took home a coveted WSOP bracelet and $727,012 cash.

Odds to Win 2007 WSOP Released
Odds to win the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was released by online poker giant, Bodog:
"Props include bets on bracelet races and several Main Event “last
longer” props that pit countrymen, family members and even the “Phils”
against each other..."
"Among the more interesting “last longer” wagers posted is a Main Event showdown between Canadian players Gavin Smith, Brad Booth and Daniel Negreanu.
Bodog bookmakers see it as a toss up between Negreanu and Smith, giving
both 6/5 odds to outlast their countrymen from the Great White North,
while “Yukon” Booth is just behind the two at 3/2."

Poker Tournaments for Africa
The poker community is joining hands in support of the worsening crisis in Darfur in Africa.
One important event coming in July, as part of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) events is Ante Up for Africa poker tournament. This fund raiser spearheaded by Annie Duke and Don Cheadle.
Top poker pros and celebrities are expected to play to raise charity money that will help support the Sudanese refugees and victims of the civil war that is going on in the region.
Meanwhile, top online poker room, PokerStars, teamed up with George Clooney's Not On Our Watch (NOOW) organization by pledging $1 million donation to the Darfur humanitarian crisis.
In line with it, Poker Stars also launched “Ocean’s 13 Darfur Charity Tournaments,” which started on May 13, and will end June 5.
