Feeling Happy

Valentine Boxes

I have sent 3 Valentine's packages out to soldiers in Iraq.  When they open them they will be so happy, I hope.  It is filled with loose candy.  There are filled with Hershey's Kisses, candy bars, Sweethearts, Gummy Bears, Chocolates, Valentines, suckers and much much more. It sounded so interesting when they were shaken.  It sounds like something inside is broken.  : )  There is plenty to share with their buddies.  The next package I send, I guess, should be something to take care of their teeth as I have overdosed them on sugar this time.  I still urge any of you who can to join Soldiers Angles and support our troops.  You don't have to commit to adopt a soldier.  There are various teams you can join to help.  There is a letter writing team that only asks you to write one letter a week to a soldier who gets no mail, there is a cards team who sends birthday cards, there is a sewing team that makes blankets for our wounded and a baking team that sends sweet goodies, there are many ways that you can help no matter your commitment ability.  It really only takes a small amount of time and the rewards are so great.  I write so many letters that I have terrible writer's cramp.  I write knowing that the soldier may never reply to me.  But a few do and when I see that 'free mail' written in the right hand corner of the envelope I just beam.  I can hardly wait to get to the house to open it.  They all basically say the same thing, that they are so glad to know that we care about them and that they are not forgotten.  That it makes their service easier to know that Americans appreciate all that they do for us.  It matters not how you feel about the war.  I am so left wing that I fly around in counter clockwise circles.  I am anti establishment in every way.  But these young men and women need only for us to take the time to write a note to make them feel needed and appreciated.  It's the least I can do for them.  Consider helping in some way.  www.soldiersangels.org
