Feeling Ecstatic

Done Going

Wow, what an evening!  I did <blush> text Ron during church service this evening.  Steve (the Jr. Preacher man - he's a Sr. Preacher elsewhere - he's wonderful!) was up there doing some announcements and about to set into prayer requests, so I knew he was going to ask me.  So, I thought I should at least have the MOST CURRENT information at that time - which was that things were still going good, as planned.

When we were singing our closing hymn "Bind Us Together" (one of my absolute favorites!) I was very joyful.  Dancing in my weird off-beat way.  Singing in my remarkably off-key way. Just happy to be alive.  I really felt good in my soul.  I am tired and I am beat - but I just felt good all over (got lots of strange looks, but that's not unusual for me).

While we were milling around, before most people had left I had that funny tingling feeling in my pants - Oh!  Ron was calling!  And what a report he gave.

Sara is out of surgery & in recovery.  She should be transported to ICU as I'm writing this (9:00 p.m. our time). Ron said he & Gail were going to wait for her to go to ICU, stop in & see her, then go to the room.

Surgery Report:  The doctor did a total re-gut.  Other than the oil pump and filters, almost everything in that motor was swapped out. Organs transplanted:  Stomach, pancreas, small intestines, liver (all those were expected), spleen, and large intestines.  Yes - 6 organs.  Isn't modern science truly amazing!  I thank God for giving us the smarts to get to this point.

Sara's donor was 9 years old.  We don't know anything else (boy/girl, why? etc.) Wow, now my heart aches for the 17 year old's family and this baby's family. Dear God, as you dance with your child on the gold streets of heaven, please hold that grieving family in your love.  Wrap them with your Grace, hold them with your Love, wipe their tears with your Comfort.  Thank you Father God for the Blessings you have bestowed upon our Family - please share them with these others.

The doctor said one issue they will have to be concerned with is "reverse rejection".  When they do a transplant of this size, the new organs could reject the body.  Sweet Jesus, in all you have freely given to us, I ask in your Almighty Name, that you heal this little girl, that you bind her germs, that you allow these organs to live happilyever after, and that Sara's body accepts them as her own.  Thank you NOW for all you have done and all you WILL do - just because you love us.

What great news, Mary.  All of you are in my prayers today and for the days following surgery also.  Do continue to send the updates to Teddy to get out to us.  Thanks.
    Peace and joy,
    ann
