The second time they were going to put the port in, the whole second floor of the hospital was shut down for a gas leak....that will instill confidence! They tried again today. No success. They said her veins are too clotted and gunked up to be able to put the port in.
So, we'll see how things go without a port. Ron said they haven't had to give her any fluids since she's been down there, so maybe that won't be a concern. Looking on the bright side, she can take a shower now. A year without a shower makes one stinky - not really, she did bathe, but she couldn't get the port wet, so it was always, what we called, a "cat bath". Get as clean as you can without getting wet - like a sponge bath.
There has been talk of closing her ostomy. That has brightened Sara's outlook - she hates the thing. Ron has some hesitation because it seems that every time they get near her bowel, it stops working - and then we all hold our breath until it wants to work again.
So, offer up a prayer or two on this valentine's day, we sure would appreciate it. Happy Valentine's day to you and your loved ones, remember to hold them tight today for they may not be here tomorrow!
