Doing Good

I think I have computer issues.  Again, I wrote & wrote updating here and pushed something and it all went away.  ARGH!!!

So, again, you're going to get the abbreviated version (sorry - it's very frustrating!).

Sara is doing better than I've seen her in a long, long time.  She's been up & going since they got home from Miami.  She went to Birmingham, where she was in her sorority sister's wedding.  She's been out to see her sister (who's in Athens Hospital with kidney issues).  She's visited with her mom. It's a welcome relieve to see her doing so well.  We are praying that it continues.

With her Hickman IV port that they were able to get in, Ron has given her fluids.  She has to have the port to keep her hydrated, if no other reason.  If you recall, the last major episode of illness began due to efforts of keeping her hydrated.

Yesterday, I took her to the Cancer Institute for an IV administration of some medicine that Medicare won't pay home-health to do.  That was a long story, but it finally got done.  I went out running errands while she was having that done.  When I picked her up, she fell getting into the car.  That scared me to death!  She has no padding - anywhere - but sure none on her booty.  Fortunately, she landed in the flowerbed next to the car.  The dirt was soft & damp.  The bed was raised up like a hump (you know how they landscape parking lot flowerbeds), so she didn't fall far.  She didn't hurt herself.  I'm sure if she did, that'd be the last time her father trusted me with her care!

So, continue the prayers.  We're doing good so far!  Hopefully, the GvHD diagnosis was the corner we needed to turn!

Ron & Sara are returning to Miami Sunday, the 18th for a "routine" check up.  We'll see how that goes.  In the 19 months since her transplant, she's only had one "routine visit" check up.  We're keeping our fingers crossed!
