The vans will hit townships, university campuses, and shopping malls where the retailer has stores in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
South Africa is home to an estimated 5.5 million people living with HIV and AIDS. Less than a quarter of South Africans aged between 15 and 24 have taken an HIV test.
To tell the truth, I'm always a wee bit uncomfortable when "brands" start taking on social issues. Is it any coincidence that Levi's "target demographic" -- 15 to 25 year olds -- is the fastest rising group of new HIV infections?
True that there have been some other corporate campaigns that have skillfully merged social consciousness and commerce including the MAC Viva Glam campaign, Kenneth Cole and Ben & Jerry's, but it's dicey…
And what will this look like in the US? HIV Testing at Merry-Go-Round and Claire's? What about follow-up including mental and health counseling? Can this be a bad thing?

BG: What the science and medical evidence concludes is that the HIV enzyme seeks out a receptor site in the blood of the Black genome. The receptor site is the CCR5 Delta 32+ (positive) gene that all people of color have. In the same sense, on the other end of the spectrum, is the 15 percent Caucasian population of the world, which is CCR5 Delta 32-(negative) gene. That means that under no circumstances, whether HIV came through the air, intravenous drug usage or any form of the sexual activity, would the virus be transferable in this sector of the world’s population, which is basically of northern European descent.
It is speculated by some experts that, in a worse case scenario, 85 percent of the world’s population could potentially perish under these designer viruses and designer synthetic biological agents. What we’re looking at here—because of this identified gene of the Black genome, this CCR5 Delta32+ (positive)—we are potentially looking at the eradication of all people of color. -
Lets put AIDS on the back burner and more on Heart desease, Diabetes and other ailments. Most of AIDA comes from "nature's mistakes" (gays) and infected needles and just plain ignorance. Yep, slop them on the back burner.

It's past time to educate, inform, and alert our people of color to make better choices, it's now time to dispel the fantasies, ignorance's, preconceived theories, fears, and unrealistic denials. It's time to to bring this horrible disease, out of the "Closet", out from "Under the Rug", out of the "Dark" and into the "Light". It leaves family members and friend, on a volatile emotional "Roller Coaster". HIV/AIDS Virus is presently today reported to be the #1 killer in our people of color communities, our young women, men (heterosexual), and among our youth this virus is in epedemic proportions, even our seniors who somehow assumed (in deception and denial) that they arr absolved from becoming HIV Infected.
At this present time it really doesn't matter with this virus, what type of vehicle it was that this HIV/AIDS rode into our lives, and our families and friends lives, the bottom line is while some are "Infected all of us are Affected"...
