The Whitney Houston Film Festival: Family Reunion

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

This is a vintage clip of a younger Whitney Houston joining her cousin, legendary chanteuse Dionne Warwick, during a television appearance.  It looks like 'Solid Gold' -- that 'American Bandstand'-like show Warwick hosted a couple of decades back.

Watching this is sort of like seeing a torch being passed.

Back in the day, Dionne ruled the roost on the adult contemporary and pop music landscape with chart-topping standards and infectious ditties.

On the show, it's clearly obvious that Whitney -- wearing that get-up-- would morph into the mega diva she was destined to be.

Wow, those were the days.

I hope that Whitney will get it together, she has had a wonderful life through music and acting, I loved her in the Preacher's Wife and Waiting to Exhale, I hope she realizes from her Christian background that God can help us do anything we want to do, if we believe and have Faith.

Everyone is making what's going on with Whitney Houston about her and Bobby, speculating about whether or not they will reunite; to me, it's not about that at all.  Whitney was a whole, complete human being long before she and Bobby got together and I honestly believe through God, she will find her way back even if it has to be without Bobby.  Although I  believe she and Bobby are both good people, they may not be good for each other.  It happens.  Best wishes to Whitney, Bobby, Bobbi Christina, Mrs Houston and everyone else involved who is dedicated to the survival of their family.  Lisa Mc

While I hope and pray for the entire Houston/Brown family, I agree that we cannot place the entire blame on Bobby for his wife's issues.  We must also understand that Bobby has his own issues as well. We, as individuals, are responsible for our own actions, and until Whitney comes to grips or hits rock bottom with her addiction problem she can't begin to heal.
As a woman, I hope Whitney will take into consideration how her actions are affecting her child.  This isn't the first family to go through something like this, and unfortunately, it won't be the last.  God Bless
