THIS JUST IN: Holly Robinson Peete Gets A Nod

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Actress and philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete has been nominated for a 2006 Quill Literacy Award for her first book, 'Get Your Own Damn Beer, I'm Watching The Game.'

The Quill Awards were established to celebrate excellence in writing and publishing, recognize and praise the creators of important books and interest more consumers in acquiring books and reading.

"To be nominated for a Quill my first book is so inspiring," the veteran actress told The BV Newswire today.  "I came up with the idea 10 years ago- I felt there wasn't a comprehensive smart yet loose guide to the game for the ladies. The fact is the NFL has a huge female fan base! Way bigger than all other pro sports! So let's get ready for some football y'all!"

Friends and fans can vote for Holly's book to win in this year's sports category by logging onto before the official website before Sept. 30.  The voting results will be announced Oct. 11.

Good for you Holly. Its so like you to create a niche for yourself, especially in your personal life. I admire your saavy, sexy, and best all around kinda nature. You take many things in stride. I love when I see you on Oprah...you keep it real. I don't know why they cancelled your show...b/ you tamela Jones and the white couple were hilarious! When i SEE WHATS ON now it makes you go ..yeeeaahhh ok right! For your love was solid. It gets to me...arggh that these producers keep re-inventing trash, recycle is their middle name, when we just wantr a good quality show we can all watch.I think you are versitile and I like your style and talent from wayyy back @ 21 Jump Street. Do some more acting please and show us what you are doing with the kids. You and Vanessa Williams and Vanessa Bell Calloway are phenominal, and lets notr forget mother of 4 Pauletta Waghington!! Ya'll go head,,, get down and swing a beer to your left
