Is there trouble in paradise for 'American Idol' winner Fantasia?
Ummmmmmmmmmm. Looks that way.
According to the 'Associated Press,' the singer's father, Joseph Barrino, has slapped her publishing company with a whopping $10 million lawsuit.
"In papers filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Joseph Barrino is seeking damages from Simon & Schuster, which released 'Fantasia: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale' in 2005."
The memoir, recently released in paperback, landed on the 'New York Times' bestseller's list and was made into a Lifetime TV movie, directed by Debbie Allen and starring Fantasia. (Read about it here.)
"[Barrino alleges] that it contains "false, exaggerated, sensational, intentional and malicious untruths."
High powered entertainment attorney Kendall Minter called the book "unfortunate publication… seeking to capitalize on her 'American Idol' success through disparaging certain members of her family."
The lawsuit also alleges that the singer's grandmother, Addie Collins, was the ghost writer.
Simon & Schuster, one of the biggest publishing houses in the world, did not release comment regarding this matter.
J Records, Fantasia's record company, has plans to release her yet to be titled sophomore album on Dec. 5.

Fantasia Jesus loves you and so do i, he cares about your day to day affairs. there is such an annointing on your voice tears well up in my eyes the night i heard you sing at the tribute to Aretha Franklin/ Uncf. that was such a lovely rendition of Rocksteady, haven'nt heard that in years. be encouraged Jesus is a Lawyer in the courtroom. Hi Fan-t...I am sorry your dad is upset,(your dad sucks). Look obviously things had to approved by Fan-t so it must be true..We all know Hollywood likes to put a little drama in the works or no one will watch. Look at The Michael Jackson Story..A lot of it was true and a lot exaggerated (That's Hollywood) Sure dad can dispute the comments, but I am sure 95% is true. Deal with it..If you was a deadbeat/no good ass nigga that didnt do shit, then fess up to it, change your ways and get the fuk on wit your life..try to do better and when people in your family statr makin chips dont come out tha woodwork rockin the boat..Yo dad remind me a shaq's (og)dad. Fantasia god blessed you with a talent and don't let anyone take it away, not with words, drugs, or anything, I admire you and how far you have come. Don't fall like Whitney, God blessed her and she fuked it off(with the help of "yes men & hollywood) please dont fall into the Hollywood trap, stay clean no one can take that beautiful voice away from us (the public) but you. ENJOY and Live for tomarrow is promised to no-one...you go girl.
