THE GAME: Ready For More Play

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Talk about good timing.

West coast rap icon The Game is having a media blitz -- which is the perfect prelude to the release of his sophomore album, titled 'The Doctor's Advocate.'

While he's already graced the cover of the November edition of 'XXL,' the platinum-plated lyricist legally known as Jayceon Taylor is also gracing the  cover of the new 'Complex' magazine.

In the feature story, the 26-year-old hip-hop superstar discusses why he decided to leave his mentor, Grammy Award winning hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre.  (CONTEXT: He's no longer on the former NWA's member-helmed Aftermath Records. He is now on Geffen Records directly.)

"It’s not about being on Aftermath. It’s not about having Dre’s beats. It’s about working close and getting game and soaking up knowledge from someone who I’ve worked with for the last five years," he said.

The Compton native --and former compadre of thug rap icon 50 Cent-- also says that he’ll still stay loyal to Dre for helping him turn his life around.

If you missed his feature film acting debut in the gritty urban drama "Waist Deep,' it will be available on DVD on Oct. 10.  The Vondie Curtis-Hall directed film, described as a modern day 'Bonnie & Clyde,' stars Tyrese Gibson, Larenz Tate and Megan Good.

BV Extras:

-- Watch the videoclip for The Game's 50 Cent diss-track "One Blood."

-- Check out the trailer for 'Waist Deep.'

-- Watch The Game and 50 Cent perform "How We Do" during better days.
