WANDA SYKES: A Closer Look

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Some last minute shenanigans (Lord, I can't wait for the chickens to come home to roost) forced me to do an "instant interview" with Wanda Sykes.

But because I secretly adore her (and definitely not her handlers), I didn't balk at the opportunity with the Emmy Award winning funnywoman (who has brought her comedic magic to such TV shows as "The Chris Rock Show,' 'Curb our Enthusiasm,' 'Will & Grace').

Our resident TV Blogsmith Marcus Vanderberg featured portions of the interview with the 'Wanda At Large' star and took a more tame publishing approach on his wildly popular "Everybody Hates Marcus" blog.

Although I have some more raw copy coming down the pike, just for kicks let's get a closer look at "engaging" content from the early morning tête-à-tête with the 42-year-old Portsmouth, Virginia native.

Sykes, who currently stars on the CBS sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine" (with Julia Louis Dreyfus (NO!), didn't dodge questions about the look-a-like comparisons to multi-platinum selling R&B hottie Ciara.

KFD: Everybody says Ciara looks like you? How are you taking that?

WS: It’s a compliment. She’s a beautiful girl. Someone asked me if Ciara was my daughter. They were like “Aren’t you Ciara’s mom?” I was like no. What the hell is wrong with you, I’m her grandmamma!

That was just a taste. You want more?  Stay tuned.

In the meantime, 'Wanda Sykes: Sick And Tired' premieres Saturday, October 14 at 10:00PM on HBO.

A specially packaged DVD component (with deleted scenes, bonus material and behind the scenes footage) will arrive on shelves on Oct. 17.

Additional airdates for 'Sick & Tired' on HBO are Oct. 17 (2:50 a.m.), Oct. 20 (12:30 a.m.), Oct. 27 (10:00 p.m.) and Oct. 30 (10:30 p.m.).

Why do we as black people have to always have something negative and ugly to say about each other,if you can't say anything postive then I feel as if you should not say nothing.I know everyone has their own opion but something should just be kept to yourself.Wanda is a very funny real and attractive person.I say do what you do girl!
