EVA PIGFORD: Her New Reality

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Eva Pigford, the quintessential winner of 'America's Next Top Model,' may be giving super-duper-model Tyra Banks a run for her money.

The Inglewood-reared beauty is on board as host of. the new reality competition, 'My Model Looks Better Than Your Model,' described as a  sophisticated ride into the world of fashion styling.

Created and executive produced by Sean J. Johnson and Nathan H. Williams, 'My Model' --premiering Nov. 1 at 10:00 p.m. on the digital cable channel BET J-- will provide aspiring fashion stylists a chance to flex their fashion acumen.

Twelve contestants will be judged by fashion photographer Ezequiel "Ez" de la Rosa and 'Trace' magazine fashion editor Daphne Devallie

According to a spokesperson for the show, guest judges are several noted fashion authorities, including Lloyd Boston, Phillip Bloch, Misa Hylton and style maven Beverly Smith.

Ummmmmmmmm.

No June Ambrose

No Monica Smith?

What about Emil Wilbekin?  Hello.

The grand prize will be "a chance of a lifetime" – to style the show’s host (affectionately known as 'Eva The Diva') in a fashion editorial for 'TRACE' magazine.

Each week, she will assign the contestants a theme.  Then, contestants will select clothing from the most expensive design houses, via My Model’s clothing sponsor, Century 21.  Each hopeful will work with industry experts to help bring the look together.  As a final component of the challenge, the contestants will direct a photo shoot with noted celebrity photographer, Garfield Hall and then, are judged by the panel of fashion experts.

One winner from each episode will go on to compete in the semi-finals.  From the semi-finals, only two are selected to compete in the finale for the grand prizes.

BV Extras:

-- Experience 'TRACE' with Alicia Keys in Africa.

    DABE405,
Before you attempt to comment on another person's use of grammar and English writing, you need to check yourself. Study up on dangling participles, punctuation placement, and plurals (i.e. tries, not trys).
Eva is not the only reality star to take advantage of her newly acquired fame. Of course she will never exactly be the celebrity personality that Tyra has become, but that also doesn't mean that she can't establish herself in the industry using the skills and experiences she learned from ANTM.
Black women all over the world have been accused of being Divas with bad attitudes for decades. It's our natural beauty and strength, often misinterpreted as "attitude", that is used against us to set us up for failure. Instead of 'hatin' on Eva for her rise to create a name for herself outside the realm of ANTM, we should support her efforts and creativity. If we don't do it in a positive fashion, we are just giving the critics more proof and evidence to support their conclusions regarding the lack of "true unity" in the African-American community.

What is it about about our culture that constantly feeds on conflict? Tyra and Eva are both beautiful and talented women. They are in totally different phases of life.Tyra has achieved international fame and wealth. On the other hand,Eva has just gotten her foot in the door.I wish them both much success.Food for thought...would there be a Beyonce,if it were not for
Josephine Baker?Would anyone know about Halle Berry,If Lena Horne,Eartha Kitt and Dianne Carrol, hadn't paved the way?
